Abstract: A heavily filled bismuth compound composite having a polymer matrix and a bismuth compound therein. The bismuth compound may be bismuth oxide, or other bismuth compounds. The polymer may be any of a very wide range of materials or combinations thereof. Binder, secondary fillers or other third components may be added. By means of use of various bismuth compounds, polymers, and third components, the physical, radiological and electrical properties of the finished products may be tailored to achieve desired properties. In addition, the invention teaches that radiation shielding, insulators, and combined radiation shield/insulators may be fashioned from the composite. A wide range of production methods may be employed, including but not limited to liquid resin casting.
Abstract: A high voltage insulator and radiation shield made of barium sulfate composite comprising a polymer matrix and at least about 20 percent barium sulfate therein. The device may be made by casting. By means of use of various combinations of barium sulfate, other radiologically resistant materials, polymers, and third components, the physical, radiological and electrical properties of the finished products may be tailored to achieve desired properties. In addition, the invention teaches that radiation shielding, insulators, and combined radiation shield/insulators may be fashioned from the composite. A wide range of production methods may be employed, including but not limited to liquid resin casting.
Abstract: A physical token to the user in the form of a unique card having a grid of images thereon. Each column and row of images has a unique text string of text. In addition, each user knows a special image, not necessarily present on the token card, on which one particular point or zone functions as an extra authentication feature. Users may be queried for a username, then shown a random one of the images on their card, and asked for the row text string plus column text string identifying the image. Users are also prompted to select their particular point or zone within their known special image, which is displayed, among a jumble of other images, by the computer system requesting authorization, such display serving to authenticate the computer system to the user. The system may be combined with password protection and methods to identify a user's machine.
Abstract: Alarm system for a cement truck providing an audible, or visible, other sensory alarm when water is flowing between the water tank and the mixing barrel. A method is also provided for generating an alarm signal when water is flowing between the water tank and the mixing barrel. The alarm system may be provided as a kit for retrofitting an existing cement truck.
Abstract: A modular office wiring system comprising a power distribution module, at least one data hub, at least one ten-conductor high-voltage cable, a cable carrier, connectors, at least one power core, at least one high-voltage power module, and at least one low-voltage data module. The system may additionally include one or more splitters that provide branch power lines, with additional power cores positioned on the branch lines and additional high-voltage power modules and low-voltage data modules connected to the additional power cores. In addition, a method is provided for installing and uninstalling the modules to each other.

Abstract: A generator and/or electrical motor features elongated electromagnets which extend coaxially, not radially, about the axis of rotation of the axle, thus allowing multiple rings of magnets to be used. A chassis carries the electromagnets with the air gap surfaces of the electromagnets extending sideways, free of coils, into the air gaps with the plural rings of field magnets. Gearing arrangements may allow the ends of the can and the rings of field magnets mounted thereon to counter-rotate relative to one another. There may be four, eight or other numbers of rings of field magnets.
Abstract: Method for drilling horizontal or deviated fresh water wells through such volcanics as occur in Hawaii, including hard lavas and fragmented interbeds that are prone to caving. The method provides effective means to drill into basal aquifers directly underlain by salt water, or into compartmented or confined aquifers or perched aquifers. The method uses deviated drilling and may use formation grouting, casing or drill-stem drilling, percussion or rotary drilling and all combinations thereof.

Abstract: A pulling head for use during installation of blind rivets, blind bolts, and lock bolts. The pulling head includes a faceted jaw holder disposed about a jaw assembly. The tool also includes an anvil sleeve that is rotatable about the jaw holder and jaw assembly and has at least one side opening sized to expose at least one of the facets of the jaw holder. The opening provides a smaller radial distance between the center of the pulling head and its outside edge to allow installation of blind rivets, blind bolts, and lock bolts where there is insufficient space for a full-diameter pulling head.
Abstract: A flexible extension device that can be mounted between a fastener installation tool and a pulling head. The device can flex over a range up to about 45 degrees and can operate under tensile and compressive loads required for installing fasteners. It includes adapters that can mate with a desired type of installation tool and pulling head.
