  • Patent number: 8197175
Abstract: The light-weight live-floor module has a floor surface, parallel cables laid on the floor surface, a length of conveyor belt laid on the cables, a movable bulkhead and a winch system for moving the belt, the cables and the bulkhead back and forth in unison, such as a shuttle. The belt has just enough length to cover the return axis and the floor surface on which goods are transported, thereby reducing any unnecessary weight in the live floor structure. The cables and the belt are wrapped over different axes for eliminating relative movement between the cables and the belt. One axis is set higher than the floor surface for easily breaking static friction under the belt. In a method for breaking static friction between a conveyor belt and a floor surface, a first segment of the belt is jolted upwardly while tension is applied in the belt.

  • Patent number: 8198595
Abstract: This invention provides a radiation dosimeter and new method of operation which comprise two types of the metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) circuits allowing to amplify the threshold voltage changes due to radiation and provide temperature compensation. The first type dosimeter is a radiation integrated circuit (RADIC) which includes two radiation field-effect transistors (RADFET) and two MOSFETs, integrated into the same substrate. The second type of radiation circuit includes two RADFETs, integrated into the same substrate, and two resistors. The amplification of the threshold voltage change is achieved by using amplification principles of an MOSFET inverter. In both cases, under the ionizing irradiation, the gate of first RADFET is forward biased and the gate of second RADFET is biased off. In the reading mode the amplified differential threshold voltage change is measured. The increased radiation sensitivity allows to measure of the milli-rad doses.

  • Patent number: 8104186
Abstract: The laser aiming system for projecting a X-shaped aiming beam along an aiming axis, has a first and second laser modules which are adapted to project a first and second planar fanned beams along a first and second axes of projection respectively. The first and second axes of projection extend parallel with, and spaced-apart from each other and from the aiming axis. The first and second planar fanned beams are skewed about the first and second axes of projection respectively, intersecting each other on the aiming axis and forming a X-shaped aiming beam having different supplementary angles.

  • Patent number: 7934981
Abstract: This patient isolation module has a transparent cubicle mounted over an hospital bed. This cubicle has a rectangular room-air intake opening at one end thereof, and an air treatment unit mounted outside the other end. The air treatment unit has fan inlet openings communicating inside the cubicle and forming a crown over the head of the bed. The air treatment unit draws air from the cubicle and causes a stream of fast-moving air to move along the cubicle, in a toe-to-head direction relative to a patient laying in the hospital bed. The air stream defines a hood-shaped envelope extending over and along both sides of the bed, to better separate a patient's breathing zone from health-care workers standing near that patient's bed.

  • Patent number: 7905032
Abstract: The adjustable jig and transfer punch tool that a plurality of pointers wherein each pointer has a central vertical axis, an anvil portion, a mandrel portion and a swivel joint joining the anvil portion to the mandrel portion in a movable manner about the central vertical axis. Each of the anvil portion and the mandrel portion has a transverse orifice therein relative to the central vertical axis. A first and second rods extend in the transverse orifices in a first and second pair of pointers respectively, joining these pointers together such that the pointers are independently movable there along. One of the pointers in the first pair of pointers is also one of the pointers in the second pair of pointers, and the first rod is movable angularly from the second rod about the swivel joint on that common pointer.

  • Patent number: 7886572
Abstract: The calibration of a backlash impulse device in a sport implement (20) is effected by firstly measuring the natural frequency of the striking surface (26) of the implement; determining from the measured natural frequency, a time of occurrence *T* and a duration of a period of elastic recovery *R? of the striking surface (26) in a first vibration cycle *P* following an impact on the striking surface (26). The method also comprises the step of adjusting a distance of travel ‘D’ of the movable mass (32) inside the backlash impulse device during a strike of a ball with the sport implement (20), such that an impulse (62) is generated on the striking surface (26) by this movable mass (32) during the strike, at the same time as the occurrence of the period of elastic recovery ‘R’ of the striking surface, in the first vibration cycle ‘P’ following the strike.

  • Patent number: 7581756
Abstract: The cab guard for a pickup truck has a horizontal base member made of square hollow structural steel; an upright structure extending upward from the horizontal base member, and two anchor brackets for attachment to sides of a pickup truck box. Each of the anchor brackets has a stem made of square hollow structural steel and an anchor plate extending at right angle from the stem. Each stem is telescopically engaged in one end of the horizontal base member. The cab guard also comprises a pair of J-shaped hooks extending through the anchor plates for attachment to the stake pockets of a pickup truck box, for retaining the anchor plates to the sides of the pickup truck box. The universal cab guard is mountable to the front stake pockets of a pickup truck box and is adjustable to match the width between the stake pockets.

  • Patent number: 7430834
Abstract: The membrane cover has fold lines therein intersecting the walls of the reservoir at intersection points. A geometric chord or secant joins two intersection points, and defines, with a portion of the walls of the reservoir, a static segment in the membrane cover. The membrane cover in the static segment is tensioned along lines of force that are parallel to or that make acute angles, with the aforesaid chord or secant. The membrane cover in the static segment remains substantially planar and stationary, thus static, despite the rising and lowering of the remaining portion of the cover in response to variations in the level of the content of the reservoir. A hatchway is mounted in the static segment of the cover. In another aspect of the invention, the hatchway has an airtight compartment extending between the membrane cover and a point below the level of the material inside the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 7410336
Abstract: The tool for rewinding winch belts has a C-shaped member having a pair of parallel arms, a transverse portion joining the arms, and a shaft extending from the transverse portion away from the arms along a rotational axis thereof. Each arm has a boss protruding therefrom, with both bosses protruding toward each other along a working axis. One of the bosses has an inclined end defining a straight side facing a working direction and an inclined surface facing a releasing direction. In another aspect, a clevis and a pin extending through a diameter of the shaft define an articulation axis of the tool, extending at right angle from the working axis and the rotational axis. The articulation of the pin and the articulation of the bosses in the holes through the socket of a winch jointly define an universal joint along the tool's rotational axis.

  • Patent number: 7309431
Abstract: In a covered wastewater reservoir, a gas passage is defined under the membrane cover and along the sides of the reservoir. An accumulation of bio-gases is held captive between the membrane cover and the liquid surface in a central region of the reservoir relative to the gas passage, by a flap-valve attachment condition extending between the accumulation of bio-gases and the gas passage. The new method for breaking this flap-valve attachment condition and for allowing bio-gases to flow from the accumulation of bio-gases toward the gas passage, consists of periodically and momentarily increasing a pressure in the gas passage to equal or to slightly exceed a pressure in the accumulation of bio-gases. In another aspect, the membrane cover is provided with a stiff and rough-surfaced bottom layer to facilitate the breaking of flap-valve attachment conditions when the pressure under the cover is made equal everywhere.
