Abstract: Disclosed are odorant compounds having 14- to 17-membered 4-methyl substituted 1,7-dioxacycloalkan-8-ones and 14- to 16-membered 1,7-dioxacycloalkan-8-ones with 4,4-dimethyl substitution. Also disclosed are methods of odorizing a substance using at least one of the above mentioned compounds, as well as an economical process for their manufacture.
Abstract: The invention relates to compounds of the general formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 to R.sup.7 are, independently, H, methyl or ethyl, R.sup.8 +R.sup.9 together form methylene (--CH.sub.2 --) or a single bond, or R.sup.1 +R.sup.2 together form --(CH.sub.2).sub.n --, with n being 3 or 4, or R.sup.3 +R.sup.5 or R.sup.5 +R.sup.7 represent methylene or a single bond; and the presence of at least one cyclopropane ring in the molecule is compulsory and the side chain can be saturated or contains one double bond in position .alpha.,.beta. or .beta., .gamma. a process for the manufacture of these compounds, compounds used to perform the process and the use of these compounds as an odorant or as an ingredient of an odorant composition.
Abstract: The invention relates to agents preventing (the formation of) human malodor. In particular, the invention relates to the use of several classes of compounds which can act as such agents in cosmetic products, such as deodorants and antiperspirants. These compounds are normally odorless or nearly so, but upon contacting the skin as for example, in skin care compositions or in personal care compositions, they prevent malodor. The compounds under consideration are compounds of the formulaX--(Z).sub.n --CO--NH--CH--(COO--Y)--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2IThe definition of the substituents is given in the specification.

Abstract: Delayed release flavorant compositions containing flavor-release additives, namely 1,2-diols of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is one of the radicals ##STR2## where R.sup.2 is H, lower alkylR.sup.3, R.sup.4 are H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy, or R.sup.3 +R.sup.4 together are methylenedioxy,R.sup.5 is lower alkyland the broken lines represent in the ring one additional bondand in the side chain an optional bond.
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with chromophore-containing photo cross-linkable liquid crystalline compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein A.sup.1 and A.sup.2 each represent a cross-linkable, mesogenic group; andA.sup.3 represents a dichroic group.as well as liquid crystalline mixtures which contain such compounds and their use in the cross-linked state as optical components.
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with photo cross-linkable liquid crystalline compounds of the general formula ##STR1## wherein A.sup.1 and A.sup.2 each are a cross-linkable mesogenic residue; andA.sup.3 is (R,R)- or (S,S)-trans-1,2-cyclohexyl-diyl,liquid crystalline mixtures which contain such compounds and their use in the cross-linked state as optical components.
Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, X and Y have the signficance given in the description, are useful in the control or prevention of inflammatory, immunological, bronchopulmonary or cardiovascular disorders.
