Abstract: A fingerprint optical input apparatus comprises a contact image sensor for viewing a moving finger and providing a high contrast image. A narrow strip of the fingerprint touching a transparent platen is illuminated by sheet of collimated light normal to or at an oblique angle to the surface. The fingerprint image is viewed at an oblique angle by partially scattered light or by frustrated total internal reflection by a GRIN rod lens array and projected onto a linear array sensor. Various embodiments of the platen provide a compact design by using TIR or mirror reflections of the fingerprint image.

Abstract: A device is provided for sensing a condition of a non-rotating pneumatic tire preferably of the type used on an automobile wherein the tire is mounted on a tire rim. The device comprises a housing, a band for mounting the housing to the tire rim, a sensor for monitoring the condition within the tire, circuitry operatively connected to the sensor for generating radio signals indicative of the tire condition, a power supply operatively connected to the circuitry, an externally controlled switch, and a receiver for receiving the radio signals. The externally controlled switch is manually or electromagnetically operable to cause the condition sensor to generate radio signals when the pneumatic tire is stationary. A method of mathematically cross-linking data and identification information is provided to ensure data integrity. Also, the system includes a data logging capability for storing time series tire condition information for use as a historical log of tire use.

The air inside the casing is pressurized and the detector indicates leakage based on the difference between the pressurized air and atmospheric pressure. A decrease in pressure of the initial level of pressurized air implies leakage.

Abstract: An apparatus for analyzing telephone billing data to produce augmented billings and reports on calls to classes of telephone numbers selected by the user, such as to calls not on a list of authorized telephone numbers or calls not fulfilling some other predetermined criterion, includes data reading, selecting, and storing means capable of obtaining telephone directory and billing data in machine manipulatable form, comparing means for finding matches between sets of data as well as tracking failures to match, and data combining and outputting means for producing useful reports. External directory information database searching means are provided for matching billing data not matched with the internally stored directory data. Means are also provided for creating a secondary directory of data extracted from previously matched billing data to increase the efficiency of processing of subsequent billing data sets.
