  • Patent number: 4973249
Abstract: An extracoronal precise attachment comprising a male component, which is to be secured to the natural tooth or implant, and a female component, which is securable thereto and is to be connected to the tooth substitute. The female component has a plastic insert which is formed from a friction member, which encloses a portion of the male component, and a securing member, which connects thereto and is inserted in the female component. To adjust the friction between the male and female components, that is to say to activate the female component, the latter has a bore which traverses therethrough and through the securing member of the plastics insert, a screw being screwable into the bore and having a threaded pin portion and a threadless cylindrical portion, the head of the screw being supported on the female component in such a manner that, when the screw is being rotated in position, a pressure is exerted upon the plastics insert. This arrangement permits the friction to be very easily and accurately adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4966109
Abstract: A connecting rod for an internal-combustion, steam or the like, engine, having hydraulic means for converting the reciprocating motion of engine piston to the rotating motion of crankshaft. While producing the same torque on crankshaft, the hydraulic connecting rod enables the crankshaft throw to be shorter and, therefore, enables a decrease of the centrifugal force and inertia load produced by crankshaft rotating motion. Futhermore, the present invention enables a significant decrease of piston-ring friction and significantly reduces total engine friction. The present invention also yields significant decreases of centrifugal, inertia and friction loads resulting in a significant increase of total engine efficiency and power output.

  • Patent number: 4964456
Abstract: Casting process and device for the continuous casting of strip and thin slabs or rods whereby at least one wall of a casting mold is formed by a flexible open-end casting belt which travels from a coil through the mold is coiled up again after passing through the mold. The belt is submitted to a tensile force acting in the direction of its path of motion and so intensely that the belt, when it is heated up in the mold, is stressed beyond its elastic limit as to cause the belt to be strained to the extent that the growth of its cross-sectional area resulting from thermal expansion is sufficiently compensated for by the reduction of its cross-section due to the strain in the belt. Thereby an inadmissable deformation of the belt due to its thermal expansion is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4958554
Abstract: An apparatus for containment of fire within ventilation ducts in a building. To this end, a lattice consisting of highly thermally conductive material, such as expanded metal, is placed in the cross section of the ventilation duct, the lattice then conducting the heat to the walls of the ventilation duct and is thereby able to prevent or delay the passage of the flames. Since such a lattice becomes fouled during operation of ventilation system, it must be easy to replace and clean. For this reason, it is recommended that the particle filling, in the form of bulk expanded metal balls, be placed on a rigid midplane consisting of transverse supports or perforated plates, etc.

  • Patent number: 4947902
Abstract: The device for twisting wires has a twisted rod with a binding hook, which is set into rotation upon pulling a handle part. The binding hook is pivotable around an axle and is held in the normal position by a stop slider engaging in recesses of the binding hook. When the wire loop around the binding hook is tightened, a catch is lifted up, whereby the stop slider and thus the binding hook are unlocked and pivoted, so that it can slip from the wire loop.Such a device enables a constant, optimum twisting of the wire without the risk of rupture thereof, and it permits automatic release of the binding hook by one and the same pulling movement.

  • Patent number: 4941301
Abstract: The elements with opening are preferably combined into a lawn plate with openings, whereby these elements with opening are impressed. The plate comprises in its longitudinal direction an indentation whereby a bulge is provided on one side and a narrowing on the other side with a width corresponding to that of an element with opening, and of the paving stone. The individual elements with openings are compatible with paving stones so that these paving stones can be seamlessly adjoined to the element with an opening. When the elements are laid without adjoining paving stones, the plates interlock to provide a pleasant configuration. The arrangement of the individual elements with openings have different dimensions vary within large limits. In another embodiment, the element with an opening is in two parts connected together by a traverse having a smaller thickness.

  • Patent number: 4940409
Abstract: Tooth and jaw models comprise a base and removable tooth sections which are fastened removably by pins put into suitable holes in the base. After the production of the jaw replica positive a hole is drilled in each section of the positive and the upper parts of the pins are cemented into the holes. The positive, including the pins, is then put into a casting mold having a height equal to the length of the insertion parts of the pins. The casting mold is then filled with gypsum, so that after cutting the positive into section, the sections are non-rotatably but removably fastened in the base and can be separated easily at the visible ends of said insertion parts of the pins. The pins have a cylindrical upper part and a profiled insertion part having a cross-shaped, star-shaped or triangular section. The prongs of the insertion parts have edges arranged parallel to one another.
