  • Patent number: 7493237
Abstract: A system and method are provided for tracking and documenting environmental compliance in a pulp mill, related primarily to the bypassing of liquid hazardous pollutants from a capture and treatment system. The method and system provide continuous information regarding the input materials, the output products, and the operations of equipment in the pulping process. The continuous information is provided to a central processor for determination of emission levels that exceed certain predetermined levels. The method and system permit personnel to verify compliance with environmental regulations, verify the reliability of pollutant collection and treatment equipment and record the actions taken to correct an inappropriate emission or equipment failure.

  • Patent number: 7452444
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method for cooking wood chips in a digester for the separation of wood fibers from their bonded state, the digester having a vertical centerline, a substantially circular cross-section, and a wash zone adjacent the bottom end thereof and a plurality of individual wash screens disposed about the inner wall of the digester for the withdrawal of liquor from the wash zone. In the first step of the method, substantially equal volumes of liquor are dynamically withdrawn from the wash zone through individual ones of the wash screens, while monitoring of the flow rate of liquor exiting the digester through individual ones of the wash screens. The monitored flow rate is used to increase or decrease the flow rate from screens to a value substantially equal to the flow rate of liquor from the digester through each of the screens.

  • Patent number: 7275653
Abstract: A reclosable lid for use with an open-top container is disclosed. The reclosable container lid comprises a cover including an annular top wall having a channel integrally formed therein. A drinking spout in the top wall is adapted to dispense the contents of the container. The reclosable lid uses a slide lock closure feature that prevents spillage during transportation of the open-top container and easy access for opening and drinking. The slide lock closure is configured to engage with the channel to slide longitudinally along the channel between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the slide lock closure opens the drinking spout and in the second position, the slide lock closure closes the drinking spout to inhibit dispensing the contents of the container.
