  • Patent number: 6773586
Abstract: A flotation device for separating materials or mixtures of materials from suspensions includes a reaction and mixing space (18) with eccentric inlet (16) for the mixture of suspension particles with gas bubbles and for further transport into at least one centrally arranged vertical suspension distribution tube (26), wherein the suspension distribution tube (26) and the clarified fluid collecting tube (48) are arranged adjacently, the plates (30) surround the suspension distribution tube (26) and the clarified fluid collecting tube (48) in an annular manner; and every second annular plate space (31) between adjacent plates (30) is connected to the suspension distribution tube (26) and every other space (31) between plates is connected to the clarified fluid collecting tube (48), so that the flow takes place out of one space (31) between plates from the inside towards the outside to the separating space (32), and subsequently into an adjacent space (31) between plates from the outside towards the inside.

  • Patent number: 5689713
Abstract: An apparatus and method for handling interrupt requests from any of a plurality of interrupters to any of a plurality of interrupt handlers. Each interrupt handler includes an interrupt input request queue for holding a plurality of incoming interrupt requests. A system controller is connected to the interrupters and the interrupt handlers, and includes an input queue coupled to each interrupter for receiving a plurality of interrupt requests. The system controller includes a processor and a memory storing instructions for controlling its operation. The system controller also includes an output queue coupled to each interrupt handler (which in many cases will also be interrupters), and a counter for monitoring the current number, at any given time, of interrupt requests pending in each of the interrupt input queues in the interrupt handlers.

  • Patent number: 5648890
Abstract: A substrate, an alignment plate, a heat sink, a back plate, a plurality of spacers, and a plurality of nuts are used to removably package one or more semiconductor package into a single module. The semiconductor dies are packaged with tape automated bonding (TAB) packages having land grid array (LGA) outer lead bumps. The substrate comprises a number of land patterns, a number of alignment cavities, and a number of join cavities. The alignment plate is fabricated with a number of alignment pins, a number of housing cavities, and a number of join cavities. The heat sink is fabricated with a number of stems and a number of join cavities. The back plate is fabricated with a number of extrusions having threaded ends. The spacers are fabricated with flanged openings at both ends, and each spacer is loaded with a number of spring washers. The nuts are fabricated with stepped heads.

  • Patent number: 5642519
Abstract: The present invention provides a unified grammar for a speech interpreter capable of real-time speech understanding for user applications running on a general purpose microprocessor-based computer. The speech interpreter includes a unified grammar (UG) compiler, a speech recognizer and a natural language (NL) processor. The UG compiler receives a common UG lexicon and unified grammar description, and generates harmonized speech recognition (SR) and NL grammars for the speech recognizer and natural language processor, respectively. The lexicon includes a plurality of UG word entries having predefined characteristics, i.e., features, while the UG description includes a plurality of complex UG rules which define grammatically allowable word sequences. The UG compiler converts the complex UG rules (complex UG rules include augmentations for constraining the UG rules) into permissible SR word sequences and SR simple rules (simple rules do not include any augmentation) for the SR grammar.

  • Patent number: 5587879
Abstract: The disclosed invention relates to a computer system, including a crib device and chassis for installing and removing a hard drive to and from the chassis of the system. The drive is securable to the crib device, which has a handle that allows the drive to be carried to and away from the chassis. The crib device and chassis have cams and cam engaging surfaces that cause the crib device and drive to move to effect engagement and disengagement of the electrical connectors of the computer system and drive. Also disclosed is a mounting arrangement for a floppy disk drive and CD-ROM drive.
