  • Patent number: 5826383
Abstract: A roof ventilation system of the type for venting air from under a roof and preventing water, debris and pests from penetrating the ventilation system and entering the interior of the structure is provided. The roof closure vent system includes: a structure having a sloped metal roof having a ridge slot formed along substantially the length of a roof ridge permitting ventilation from the interior under said roof to the exterior; and a ridge closure vent positioned adjacent each longitudinal side of said ridge slot extending substantially along the length thereof fastened between said roof and a ridge panel, in place of the ridge closure vent or in combination therewith is a eave closure vent connected beneath said roof substantially along the length of an eave of said roof.

  • Patent number: 5819805
Abstract: A new and improved casing thread protector that has a toroidal body of elastomer with a bore to accept a pipe end, thread engagement pads, and a metal band and clamp arrangement extending around its periphery. The bore accepts the end of a pipe with threads to be protected when the thread engagement pads are allowed a certain degree of movement due to the open position of the clamp, which pads subsequently grip the pipe within the bore when the clamp is closed. The pads, which are replaceable, come into contact with the tubular inserted in the bore when the clamp is in the closed position, isolating the tubular good from the body of the improved device and creating greater pressure on the contact points of the threads of the tubular good which increases the force required to dislodge the improved protector from the threads.

  • Patent number: 5785888
Abstract: A method for removing sulfur dioxide from gas streams, comprising contacting the gas stream with the aqueous absorption liquid, transferring the liquid to another location, then mildly heating the liquid to recover the sulfur dioxide. This absorption liquid allows removal of 99.9% of the sulfur dioxide, the recovery of very pure sulfur dioxide, is resistant to upsets due to variations in the gas stream, and is cost effective.

  • Patent number: 5735348
Abstract: A multi-functional apparatus and method for drilling fluid and cementing operations to set casing in a wellbore for use on either top drive or rotary type rigs. The apparatus and method includes a fill-up and circulating tool, a cementing head assembly, and a wiper plug assembly. The fill-up and circulating tool comprises a mandrel with a packer cup fixedly attached to a sliding sleeve disposed about the outside diameter of the mandrel. The cementing head and wiper plug assemblies are useable on any fill-up and circulating tool capable of being inserted into a casing. To fill the casing, the assembly is lowered from the rig such that a portion of the fill-up tool is inserted into the casing, the pumps are then actuated to flow fluid into the casing. To circulate fluid, the tool is lower further such that the packer cup sealingly engages the inside diameter of the casing to allow fluid to flow through the casing, into the wellbore, and back to the fluid pumps.
