  • Patent number: 7196638
Abstract: An embedded digitization system enables a military platform to receive, transmit and process a variety of types of information for a variety of purposes. An apparatus and method provides a means to ensure information interoperability between the invention and external sources. The invention provides a development environment that enables a developer to automatically and interactively develop the middleware services and functions that contain the aspects for interoperability with external sources. The invention ensures interoperability through reuse of functions and services known to satisfy requirements for interoperability. When functions and services that satisfy requirements for interoperability are not available, the invention provides a means to develop new functions and services that satisfy requirements for interoperability.

  • Patent number: 7143656
Abstract: An improved torque sensing arrangement includes a magnetoelastic ring on a rotatable shaft, along with two or more magnetic field sensors. The ring has at least two magnetic bands magnetized in opposite directions to produce at least two magnetic fields. Alternatively, the rotatable shaft could be magnetized into bands, eliminating the need for a magnetoelastic ring. The magnetic field sensors are positioned next to, but not contacting, the bands, and can be used to measure the field strength, which can be converted to torque. The sensors are preferably positioned to either side of the peak axial magnetic field strength areas of the bands, one offset from the center of one band in a first direction and the other offset from the center of the other band in a second direction opposite the first direction, thereby limiting the average change in the reading when the fields move under the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6377571
Abstract: The present invention provides method and apparatus to provide local clients with the capability to dial-out through a packet processor to a remote line server to access a remote client. A packet processor is disclosed which includes a first and second interface and a bridge/router. The remote client is coupled through respectively a first network, a remote line server, and a second point-to-point network to the packet processor. The first interface couples to each of the local clients and detects data packets from one of the local clients which contain a dial-out phone number of the remote client. The second interface couples to the first network and opens a first point-to-point connection to the remote line server, responsive to the detecting of the packet.
