  • Patent number: 4607749
Abstract: The envelope is especially designed to bulky contents such as bank statements with cancelled checks and the like. The back panel of the envelope is provided with a rupturable cut score line which is parallel to the bottom edge of the envelope and which is overlain by the closure flap of the envelope when the latter is closed. An initiating tab projects below the lower edge of the closure flap. The lower edge of the closure flap is parallel to the bottom edge of the envelope, and the closure flap is secured to the back panel of the envelope by a latex adhesive which is adherent without being moistened. Adhesive spots are provided on the inner surface of the envelope to releasably secure the contents in place in the envelope.

  • Patent number: 4510122
Abstract: A process for extracting the uranium contained in phosphoric acid solutions by means of an extracting agent comprising an alkylpyrophosphoric acid, which comprises bringing into contact, in an agitated condition, the inorganic, phosphoric acid phase and an organic phase containing the extracting agent, thereby producing an emulsion, which is characterized in that, in an extraction unit comprising n stages in a cascade configuration, for each extraction stage, the emulsion is produced in a first step by simultaneously subjecting the two phases for a period of time T.sub.1 to an intense mechanical shearing action corresponding to a shearing coefficient of at least 5000 seconds.sup.-1 in order to multiply the contact surfaces for contact between said two phases, and then said emulsion in a second step is abruptly broke in a time T.sub.2, the sum of the times required for carrying out the two steps being at most 20 minutes.

  • Patent number: 4447582
Abstract: A method of improving the handling of low molecular weight EPM or EPDM polymers which includes reacting the low molecular weight polymer with a monomer capable of providing quaternary salt forming groups and then cross linking the resulting polymer with a difunctional cross linking agent whereby the polymer takes on the characteristics of a high molecular weight polymer but which can be returned to the characteristics of a low molecular weight polymer upon exposure to elevated temperature.

  • Patent number: 4183887
Abstract: Elastomeric particles which are rendered free flowing by treatment with the combination of a finely divided partitioning agent and a fibrilatable polymer which has been fibrilated to form a network on the surface of the elastomeric material with retention of the partitioning agent thereby.

  • Patent number: 4045989
Abstract: An apparatus for bending sheet metal wherein a plurality of forming rolls are utilized. The rolls are situated at succeeding stations, and a first bending station includes a roll having forming protrusions in spaced apart relationship on the roll surface. The roll also defines drive elements which are engageable by the sheet so that movement of the sheet against a roll drive element operates to drive the roll and to thus move a forming protrusion into contact with the sheet for bending the sheet. Shift means are associated with this roll for locating the drive elements and protrusions in different positions to thereby control the particular drive element engaged by the sheet whereby the particular forming protrusion which performs the bending function can be pre-selected.
