Patent number: 6679425Abstract: A process and apparatus determines whether a person is authorized to purchase a restricted goods, such as tobacco or alcohol, or attend a restricted even, such as a strip tease act or a movie, or receive a certain discount, such as a senior discount. The person has a date of birth and a corresponding age and an identification material, such as a driver's license, having the date of birth encoded on a magnetic strip attached thereto. The date of birth is magnetically read from the magnetic strip attached to the identification material. The apparatus has a magnetic reader, a microprocessor, and a warning device. The magnetic reader reads the date of birth from the magnetic strip attached to the identification material. The microprocessor is electrically coupled to the magnetic reader and programmed to receive the date of birth read and to compute the age by comparing the date of birth to the first date. The first date is inputted into the microprocessor.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1997Date of Patent: January 20, 2004Assignee: Express Technology, Inc.Inventors: Clinton S. Sheppard, Donald R. McCombes

Patent number: 6508791Abstract: An infusion apparatus comprises a plurality of ports, a plurality of one-way directional valves, and a joint. Each port is adapted to receive and secure a syringe to allow for a flow of a liquid through the syringe into the port. Each one-way directional valve is in fluid communication with a respective port of the plurality of ports to enable the liquid to flow away from the port. The joint has a plurality of inputs to receive the flow from the plurality of one-way directional valves. The inputs are in fluid communication with each individual port of the plurality of ports. The joint has an output.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2000Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Inventor: Ramon Guerrero

Patent number: 6390752Abstract: A trailer to load and transport a bail of hay comprises a towing assembly and a flat bed. The towing assembly selectively attaches to a towing vehicle. The flat bed selectably attaches to the towing assembly. The flat bed has a forked assembly. The forked assembly has at least one prong. The at least one prong is bent at a an angle toward the towing vehicle. The forked assembly is adapted to selectively pivot around an axle attached to a first position of the flat bed, so that the forked assembly is able to lift the bail of hay onto the first position of the flat bed. The flat bed has at least one motorized transport mechanism to transport the bail of hay from the first portion of the flat bed to as second portion of the flat bed. The motorized transport mechanism is a motorized grips and secures the bail of hay. The flat bed has a pair of wheels, at least one wheel on each side of the flat bed. The flat bed has a support wheel positioned between one wheel on one side of the flat bed and the first position.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2000Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Inventor: Melvin Eiland

Patent number: 6342539Abstract: An apparatus separates a substantially metallic portion from a substantially non-metallic portion or constituent components of at least one electrical product, comprising a plurality of crushing machines, such as a first crushing machine and a second crushing machine and a separating machine. The first crushing machine crushes the at least one electrical product to create at least one crushed electrical product. The first crushing machine has a first screen affixed thereto to regulate a first flow of the at least one first crushed electrical product from the first crushing machine. The second crushing machine crushes the at least one first crushed electrical product to create at least one second crushed electrical product. The second crushing machine has a second screen affixed thereto to regulate a second flow of the at least one second crushed electrical product from the second crushing machine.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1997Date of Patent: January 29, 2002Assignee: Resource Concepts, Inc.Inventor: Ray Chapman

Patent number: 6078650Abstract: A process of handling a TTY call from a calling party to a called party receives a TTY call to the called party; checks a database of at least one party capable of receiving the TTY call from the called party to determine whether the called party is able to receive the TTy call; and if the called party is in the database, then prompts the calling party to leave a message; receives the message; stores the message; and notifies the called party that the calling party has left the message. In addition, the process may also check a second database of at least one party capable of receiving the TTY call from the called party and if the called party is in the database, then prompt the calling party to leave a second message; receive the second message; store the second message; and notify the called party that the calling party has left the second message.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1997Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Assignee: Nortel Networks CorporationInventor: Frederick W. Patent number: 5949244Abstract: An apparatus to test an integrated circuit has a plurality of contact pads electrically coupled to the integrated circuit to transfer electrical signals to and from the integrated circuit. The apparatus comprises a ring and a plurality of probes. The ring has a ring surface and an opening to a hollow cavity extending through the ring. The ring surface substantially surrounds the opening. The ring has at least one structural reference point affixed thereto, which is offset a known distance and a known direction from the plurality of contact pads. The plurality of probes are positioned on the ring surface extending from a first location exterior to the ring to a second location proximate to the opening.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1996Date of Patent: September 7, 1999Inventor: David M. Patent number: 5917330Abstract: An apparatus to test an integrated circuit has a plurality of contact pads electrically coupled to the integrated circuit to transfer electrical signals to and from the integrated circuit. The apparatus has a body or ring, a plurality of probes, and electrical components. The ring has a ring surface and a ring opening in the ring surface to a hollow cavity extending through the ring. The plurality of probes extend from a first location exterior of the ring to a second location over the ring opening and are affixed to the ring with an adhesive. Each probe of the plurality of probes has a contact end to electrically contact one contact pad of the plurality of contact pads. In some embodiments, at least one electrical component is secured to the ring. The at least one electrical component is electrically coupled to the plurality of contact pads. A conductive plate may also be secured to the body and be electrically coupled to at least probe of the plurality of probes and to the at least one electrical component.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1996Date of Patent: June 29, 1999Inventor: David M. Patent number: 5887805Abstract: Preferred processes to separate metallic and non-metallic constituent components of at least one electronic product are generally comprised of the following steps: (a) repeatedly crushing the at least one electronic product to create a plurality of crushed electronic components; (b) repeatedly screening the plurality of crushed electronic components to ensure that the plurality of crushed electronic components substantially conform to a specific size; and (c) separating the plurality of crushed electronic components after steps (a) and (b) into non-metallic constituent components and metallic constituent components by weight. In addition, before step (a), the at least one electronic product must be provided or otherwise transported to crushing machines to perform step (a). Likewise, the crushed electronic components must be transported from one crushing machine to another crushing machine and to the separating apparatus to perform step (c).Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1997Date of Patent: March 30, 1999Assignee: Resource Concepts, Inc.Inventor: Ray Chapman
