Abstract: A self-cooling ferrofluid seal includes a housing having a housing case and an external pole piece integrally connected to the housing case where the housing case has a plurality of heat dissipating surfaces, a magnetic circuit within the housing formed in conjunction with the external pole piece, a rotatable shaft having one or more fan blades where the rotatable shaft is coaxially aligned within the housing, and a quantity of magnetic fluid between the rotatable shaft and the external pole piece forming a ferrofluid seal.

Abstract: A sharpening holder for manually-sharpening a cutting edge to be honed over a honing surface includes a body, an adjustable clamping component, and a plurality of roller members. The body has a first end, a second end and a tool support surface between the first end and the second end. The adjustable clamping component has a fastening plate positioned against the tool support surface. The fastening plate has a tool engaging surface to hold the tool against the tool support surface. The plurality of roller members are attached to a lower portion of the body adjacent the second end where the plurality of roller members are configured to allow the body to roll in a direction selected from the group consisting of sideways and in an arc on the honing surface causing the cutting edge of the tool to move parallel to the honing surface instead of perpendicular to the honing surface.

Abstract: A system to reduce error in procurement of over-the-counter medications that has a prescription drug dispensing container that contains a prescription medication, an over-the-counter drug dispensing container that contains an over-the-counter medication, indicia displayed on the over-the-counter drug dispensing container, and a procurement guide that links the procurement of the over-the-counter medication to the procurement of said prescription medication and allows identification of said over-the-counter medication by matching indicia on the procurement guide to the indicia on the over-the-counter drug dispensing container.

Abstract: An unloader for discharging and feeding dry, granular type materials from bulk bags. Among the many improvements of the discharge apparatus is an open frame (20) and offset discharge location. Other improvements include an I-beam (23) and frame design that keeps the hoist (25) movement within the four corner posts of the frame. The unloader may be provided with vibrators, vibration isolators, load cells, actuators (107, 108), massage paddles, or plates (106, 109) to assist in the discharge function.

Abstract: A manifold cabinet includes an enclosure having a back wall, a top wall, a pair of side walls, at least two partition walls, a center opening and at least two outside edge openings. The partition walls have a plurality of openings and are attached within the enclosure forming a larger central chamber sized to receive a manifold and two side chambers. The center opening provides access to the larger central chamber and each of the two outside edge openings provide access to one of the two side chambers.

Abstract: An audio speaker includes a driver unit having a magnetic pole case defining a radial gap, a vibration system having a diaphragm and a voice coil where the vibration system is fixed to the drive unit and the voice coil is movably mounted into the radial gap, and a residual magnetic fluid layer disposed on the surfaces of one or more of the magnetic pole case and the voice coil where an air gap exists between the voice coil and the magnetic pole case.

Abstract: The micro-speaker includes a driver unit having a housing, a magnet disposed within the housing forming a radial gap between the magnet and the circumferential walls of the housing, and a magnetic plate disposed on the magnet, a vibration system having a diaphragm and a voice coil where the vibration system is fixed to the drive unit and the voice coil protrudes into the radial gap, and a volatile magnetic fluid in the radial gap about the voice coil.

Abstract: A sled for transporting a power auger across ice in a vertical position having a cradle for holding the ice auger in a vertical position attached to a center stand with adjustable height. The center stand is attached to a folding stand that is attached to two skis. Each component can be assembled using knobs, and laid flat to be sold as a kit and stored using minimum space in an automobile.

Abstract: An adjustable bowed shower rod and bracket that is simple, strong, and attractive having an elliptical cross section; a semi-capsular wall bracket with a semi-cylindrical middle section and a cutout in the middle section having a height between one quarter and one half the height of the bracket; and a swivel having a cylindrical vertical member longer than the height of the bracket cutout of a diameter selected to fit completely within the bracket middle section and an elliptical horizontal member secured perpendicularly to the vertical member on a first end and sized to receive the rod in an overlapping fit on a second end. The swivel vertical member can be assembled into the bracket with the swivel horizontal member protruding through the bracket cutout, and the elliptical rod can come into communication with the swivel horizontal member, thereby assembling the shower rod and bracket apparatus. The brackets do not require any pivot pin or backing plate.

The adjustable sliding rack assembly includes a rack with an opening on a first rack end, a perpendicular tube at a second rack end, an extendable nonrotatable inner tube having a pad on a first extendable inner tube end, and a linear actuating mechanism operably connected to the extendable nonrotatable inner tube for movement of the extendable nonrotatable inner tube between a proximal position adjacent a first perpendicular tube end and a distal position adjacent the flat arm end. The opening is configured for receiving the rail and the extendable nonrotatable inner tube is slidably engaged within the perpendicular tube.

Abstract: A magnetic assembly for a multistage magnetic fluid rotary seal has a shaft, an annular permanent magnet, at least one pole piece and a radial gap formed between the shaft and the pole piece. The shaft and the pole piece have a plurality of trapezoidal-shaped ridges in opposing, non-contacting relationship forming the radial gap. The trapezoidal-shaped ridges have a flat top portion facing the radial gap and tapered sides that diverge away from the top portion.

Abstract: A hinge device having a way to detach one hinge member from another includes a fender mounting plate with a pivot pin secured thereto, a hood mounting plate having a pivot pin engaging slot, an elongated pawl having a latch plate engaging end, the pawl secured to the hood mounting plate, a latch plate rotatably secured to the hood mounting plate in a spaced relationship with the elongated pawl where the latch plate has a pawl engaging slot shaped to engage the pawl latch plate engaging end, a pivot pin engaging slot shaped to engage the pivot pin, and a pawl unlock surface that contacts the latch plate engaging end when the elongated pawl is not engaged with the pawl engaging, whereby a user can detach one hinge member from another by withdrawing the elongated pawl, translating one hinge member in relation to the other, and thereby rotating the latch plate, which disengages the latch plate and hood mounting plate from the pivot pin and separates the hinge members.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for removing SO2, NO, and NO2 from a gas stream having the steps of oxidizing a portion of the NO in the flue gas stream to NO2, scrubbing the SO2, NO, and NO2 with an alkali scrubbing solution, and removing any alkali aerosols generated by the scrubbing in a wet electrostatic precipitator. The process can also remove Hg by oxidizing it to oxidized mercury and removing it in the scrubbing solution and wet electrostatic precipitator. Alkali sulfates, which are valuable fertilizers, can be withdrawn from the rubbing solution.
