  • Patent number: 7221935
Abstract: The advent of new and sophisticated web services provided by Service Providers to users, services that individually require authentication of user and authorization of access, brings the needs for a new service to facilitate such authentication and access, a service referred to as Single Sign-On (SSO). The basic principle behind SSO is that users are authenticated once at a particular level, and then access all their subscribed services accepting that level of authentication. The present invention provides a system, method and apparatus wherein a cellular Federation of mobile network operators becomes an SSO authentication authority for subscribers of this Federation accessing Service Providers having such agreement with a mobile network operator of the Federation.

  • Patent number: 7212679
Abstract: Method and apparatus for compressing data representing a set of symbols such that each symbol of the set can be separately accessed and decompressed. Each symbol of the set of symbols is encoded in the form of a two-part code wherein a first part of the code is common for all encoded symbols and a second part of the code encodes the data representing a symbol. An identifier is given for each symbol for permitting each encoded symbol to be separately accessed and decompressed. The invention is particularly useful for storing large fonts such as a Chinese or Japanese character set.

  • Patent number: 7203167
Abstract: A method of controlling the flow of an amount of data from a sending peer to a receiving peer of a predetermined communication protocol is described. The method comprises dividing the amount of data into a plurality of data segments, where the data segments are ordered in a sequence. The segments are sent to the receiving peer in the order of said sequence. The receiving peer acknowledges the correct receipt of a data segment and identifies the last correctly received data segment of the sequence that was received in the proper order of the sequence. The sending peer is arranged such that if it receives a threshold number of duplicate acknowledgements, it performs a retransmission. The threshold number that trigger a retransmission is an adaptive parameter and may assume values larger than three.

  • Patent number: 7197063
Abstract: Method and system are disclosed for providing advanced RAKE delay control in wireless communications systems. The RAKE delay control method and system of the invention is capable of tracking presently known paths over time and merging the tracking results with new path searcher results. The invention is particularly suitable for devices where the resources (e.g., computational load, power) available for detecting the multipath components are limited. The result is a resource efficient architecture for positioning the RAKE fingers to best extract the signal power available in the channel and to utilize the inherent diversity due to the multipath nature of the signal.

  • Patent number: 7196825
Abstract: A method and system for generating output from an electronic reading device is based on a detected position of the electronic reading device relative to a predefined address pattern on a specially formatted paper. Based on a periodic detection of successive positions of the electronic reading device, a printer on the electronic reading device is activated in a manner such that stored text or graphics are printed on the specially formatted paper. The printing can be accomplished, for example, using a thermo-print head of the electronic reading device in connection with a thermal sensitive paper. Either as an alternative to or in addition to printing, the electronic reading device can also generate an audio output based on the detected location of the electronic reading device.

  • Patent number: 6621335
Abstract: A Class D amplifier device with reduced power consumption uses a passive RC network. The output of the RC network directly feeds a comparator resulting in increased efficiency. The RC network is configured to perform several functions, including the low pass filtering of the feedback signal to remove high frequency/high amplitude clock components and provides a DC path from its output to reduce duty cycle errors. Additionally, the input signal receives low pass filtering, creating a generally flat frequency response. Finally, the clock signal is filtered to generate a triangle wave of good linearity and appropriate amplitude.
