  • Patent number: 6134793
Abstract: A laser is adapted for attachment to an arrow such that a beam projected from the laser is colinear with an axis of a shaft of the arrow. A first target has a first marking and a second marking thereon. The first and second markings are positioned such that when the laser is attached to the arrow, and the arrow is drawn on a bow, and the beam from the laser is projected on the second marking, and a person drawing the bow visually aligns the first marking with a sighting pin and a peep sight on a string of the bow, and the bow is a first pre-determined distance away from the first target, the sighting pin is properly aligned for aiming the arrow without the laser thereon from the bow toward a second target which is positioned a second pre-determined distance away from the bow.

  • Patent number: 5319940
Abstract: Method and apparatus to defrost evaporator coils of a refrigeration system by periodically replacing the refrigerant in the evaporator coils by hot refrigerant gas from the compression side of a compressor. The gas from the compressor is sent through an oil separator, then through a solenoid valve to a vaporizer tank. From the vaporizer tank, a portion of the hot gas is fed constantly during the defrosting cycle through a metering flow control valve to the evaporator coils. As the pressure builds up in the vaporizer tank due to the compressor supplying more gas than the amount flowing through the metering flow control valve, a pressure control senses the pressure increase and opens a vaporizer solenoid valve to allow additional hot gas to flow to the evaporator coils. In the evaporator the gas heats the evaporator coils and melts the frost on the coils and then passes to the suction line of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 5231784
Abstract: A device suitable for ice fishing has a base supported above a hole in the ice. A horizontal shaft is rotatably attached to the base and has a wind driven fan at one end and a crank at the other end. A guide member is pivoted to the end of the crank and guides a fishing line wound on a reel with a bait hook in the water. When the fan rotates the shaft and crank, the guide member moves about its pivot point on the crank. This motion causes the hook to rise and fall and move horizontally in the water to attract a fish. The fishing device also has a spring strip having one end attached to the base and the outer end includes a curved portion and a flag. A stop plate is slidably mounted on the spring strip. The spring strip in the set position has the curved portion positioned in a notch on a plate attached to the base. A reel, upon which the fishing line is wound is rotatably attached to the base adjacent the notch and has a trip pin which rotates with the reel.

  • Patent number: 4777809
Abstract: An anti-theft device for locking an outboard motor comprising an elongated, channel-like, body member has a longitudinally extending opening to closely receive the head portions of clamping screws which clamp the motor to a transom board of a boat, or a motor stand for use in motor sales and/or service. The body member includes a slot to receive the shanks of the screws while allowing the screws to pass through the body member while the head portions are confined within the body member. Stops within the longitudinal opening in the body member are shaped to fit within recesses or notches in the head portions of the clamping screws. Locking means including a padlock secure the head portions of the clamping screws tightly within the body member and in contact with the stops to prevent rotation of the clamping screws.

  • Patent number: 4773629
Abstract: A highway traffic barrier of the New Jersey style is made from semi-rigid plastic material so that it has some elasticity and will act as a shock absorber, while weighing considerably less than the present day New Jersey style barrier made from concrete. The barrier is hollow and contains interior baffles to provide compartments within the barrier. When in use the barrier is filled with a liquid through filling openings at the top of the barrier and has a weight about equal to the present New Jersey style barriers made of concrete. When the barriers are not filled with a liquid, they weigh considerably less than present New Jersey style barriers made of concrete. When not in use, the liquid is discharged through discharge openings near the bottom of the barriers. Each barrier has a groove at each end which is adapted to receive a key so that the barriers may be joined together to form a highway barrier of the required length.

  • Patent number: 4517762
Abstract: An animal trap holder for a trap of the Conibear type having a pair of spring biased jaws. The holder is a U-shaped member with the two legs of the U connected together by an integral base. The outer surfaces of the legs and base are flat rectangular surfaces with the sides of the rectangular surfaces of a distance substantially greater than the thickness of the legs and base. The free ends of the legs of the U-shaped member have outwardly extending flange portions to cooperate with the outer surfaces of the legs to receive and support a substantial length of the jaws of the trap when the trap is set and to allow the jaws of the trap to be released when the trap is sprung. When it is desired to adjustably secure the holder to a stake, a U-shaped adaptor of about the same configuration as the holder is fastened to the holder and adjustably secured to the stake.

  • Patent number: 4375167
Abstract: Apparatus and method for acoustically inspecting hot flat plates while on-line by utilizing an array or arrays of transducers continually spaced a set distance from the bottom of the plates by serrated rollers spring mounted with the array of transducers in a container with overflowing liquid wetting the passing plate to acoustically couple the transducers to the plate and a spray of sufficient force to temporarily cool the hot plate and dispel steam and vapor formed, the spray being in a direction opposite the direction of travel of the hot plate; and support of the unit on a track mounted carriage, with the liquid reused through a reservoir connected system. It is critical that the spray be at an angle of 27.degree. or less to the horizontal and that the spray have sufficient force to have an apparent liquid velocity of at least 44 feet per second, adding the speed of the water and the hot plate together.
