  • Patent number: 6246001
Abstract: Drain twisted wires of a plurality of shielded cables are connected with a ground wire without using a joint connector. In a grounding construction for grounding metal fiber braided wires of a plurality of shielded cables by connecting drain twisted wires 10a to 10f made of the metal fiber braided wires with each other and with a ground wire 11, sheaths of the plurality of shielded cables are stripped at positions corresponding to a sheath stripping position for the longest drain twisted wire. The drain twisted wires are bundled with the ground wire by a tape 12 from the sheath stripping positions P1. Resistance welding then is applied to ends of the twisted wires exposed from the leading end of the tape and to a core exposed from one end of the ground wire. The other end of the ground wire then is grounded.

  • Patent number: 6244900
Abstract: A connector is provided to increase the strength for stopping a forward movement of a terminal fitting. The connector has a housing 11 with a cavity 12. A locking portion 18 is disposed in the cavity 12. Opposite side surfaces of a portion of a locking portion 18 more toward the leading end thereof than a locking projection 19 are cut off to form cut surfaces 21. Contact portions 23 projecting inward are formed continuously with a front wall 13 in areas of side surfaces of the cavity 12 facing the cut surfaces 21. Stabilizers 8 provided on a male terminal fitting 1 can come into contact with the back edges of the contact portions 23. A forward movement of the male terminal fitting 1 properly inserted is stopped by the contact with the front wall 13 and the contact of the stabilizers 8 with the contact portions 23. Since the contact portions 23 are formed taking advantage of spaces obtained by cutting off parts of the locking portion 18, they do not cause any enlargement of the cavity 12.

  • Patent number: 6244897
Abstract: A watertight connector with improved sealability is provided. The connector has a housing 1 with a mount hole 13 formed at the rear end of the housing 1 a one-piece watertight rubber plug 15 and a gel plate 20 made of silicone gel 20A are fitted into the mount hole 13. The gel plate 20 is compressed by mounting a cover 22. A female terminal fitting 3 connected with an end of a wire 8 penetrates the gel plate 20 after passing through an insertion hole 23 of the cover 22, and is further inserted into a corresponding cavity 2 while forcibly widening a through hole 16 of the rubber plug 15. When the female terminal fitting 3 is properly inserted, lips 17 of the through hole 16 are in close contact with the outer surface of the wire 8. Edges of a connection portion 4 and a stabilizer 6 may damage the lips 17 while the female terminal fitting 3 passes through the through hole 16 of the rubber plug 15. If it occurs, the silicone gel 20A pushed out of the gel plate 20 enters damaged portions to fill them out.

  • Patent number: 6241542
Abstract: A connector is provided to clear a shorted state of a shorting terminal without using a clearing rib. The connector includes female and male housings 10, 20. A slider 40 assembled into the male housing 20 is moved backward by elastic restoring forces of elastically contracted coil springs when female and male housings 10, 20 are properly connected and a locking claw 31 of a lock arm 30 is disengaged from a locking surface 53. By integrally assembling a shorting terminal 60 into the slider 40, the shorting terminal 60 can be moved automatically from a shorting position where contact portions 64 of the shorting terminal 60 are held in contact with male terminal fittings 26 to short them to a clearing position where the contact portions 64 are not in contact with the male terminal fittings 26.

  • Patent number: 6241540
Abstract: A lever type connector is provided to prevent a lever from being inadvertently released. The lever type connector 1 is provided with a connector housing 8 and a lever 7 rotatably assembled with the connector housing 8. A locking portion 18 projects on the upper surface of the connector housing 8, and a lock claw 26 is provided in a recess 31 formed in the lever 7. When the lever 7 is rotated in such a direction as to cover the upper surface of the connector housing 8, the lock claw 26 and the locking portion 18 are engaged, thereby preventing any further rotation of the lever 7. At this time, an error disengagement restricting portion 28 projecting backward of the connector housing 8 prevents the lock claw 26 and the locking portion 18 from being inadvertently disengaged from each other.

  • Patent number: 6224632
Abstract: A tibia fixturing device comprises a metal tray formed with annularly spaced recesses in its underside at a depth of at least about 1.5 mm and from which a stem depends for axial insertion into a tibia conical cavity. The stem has a circular cylindrical portion proximal the tray and a conical portion distal the tray. Fins radially extend from the stem cylindrical portion and penetrate the tibia to provide some torsional resistance. Axially extending channels are formed about the stem periphery which channels have bottom surfaces parallel to the stem axis to provide further torsional resistance. The channels are arranged to not interlock with the cement in the axial direction to permit the cement to separate first from the device during axial removal of the device from the bone. The fins have inclined edges distal the tray and inclined radial outer edges to align and center the stem to the bone cavity edge.

  • Patent number: 6219913
Abstract: A group of upper side male terminal fittings 2A and lower side male terminal fittings 2B are secured to the upper and lower surfaces of a mount plate 8 formed as a separate piece by pressing projections 12 into mount holes 16, thereby forming a core member 7. A housing 1 is formed by insert molding using this core member 7 as a core material. Since insert molding can be performed with the outer surfaces of the male terminal fittings 2A, 2B opposite from those secured to the mount plate 8 exposed, only the thickness of the housing 1 is added at the outer surfaces of the male terminal fittings 2A, 2B. Thus, there can be obtained a connector having a small thickness T around the male terminal fittings 2A, 2B.

  • Patent number: 6217387
Abstract: A high strength terminal fitting 30 for a wedge-base bulb is provided which is not likely to be deformed while being assembled into a bulb socket. The terminal fitting 30 is provided with a pair of holding pieces 35, and a tab 31 formed by bending a portion of one holding piece 35R to have a steplike shape is provided with a tab side portion 38 extending toward the other holding piece 35L. A first small projection 39A of a receiving portion 39 formed by bending the other holding piece 35L1 is placed on the upper surface of the tab side portion 38. Even if the tab side portion 38 continuous with the tab 31 tries to undergo an upward displacement upon being subjected to an insertion resistance which acts during the insertion of the tab 31 into a tab mount hole 25 formed in a bulb socket 20, the first small projection 39A of the receiving porion 39 restricts the upward displacement of the tab side portion 38, thereby preventing the deformation thereof.
