Patent number: 8317752Abstract: A medical pump system includes an input device for entering a command or a value of a pump programming parameter and a memory for storing a programming code. A processor is in communication with the memory and the input device in order to generate a display signal for an output device to generate one of a plurality of screens, such as near view and far view screens. The programming code is operable to display on a far view screen a plurality of medical therapy buttons that can be used to navigate directly to a near view programming screen. The far view screen can also concurrently display quick titration buttons that are associated with the medical therapy buttons and can be used to navigate directly to a quick titration screen without having to go to a general near view delivery screen or near view programming screen.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2009Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: Hospira, Inc.Inventors: Mihaela Cozmi, John Arrizza, John Erik Michael Palmroos

Patent number: 8317698Abstract: A method of monitoring performance of a fluid testing system is provided. The method draws a fluid sample to the testing system using a pump. A voltage output of a sensor, such as an optical sensor, is generated. The voltage output of the optical sensor during the drawing is compared to an upper fluid volume drawn based voltage limit and a lower fluid volume drawn based voltage limit stored within a memory. The system is flushed with a flushing fluid using the pump to flush the flushing fluid from the testing system. The voltage output of the optical sensor during the flushing is compared to an upper fluid volume flushed based voltage limit and a lower fluid volume flushed based voltage limit stored within the memory. An alert generates if at least one of the voltage output during the drawing of the fluid sample is outside of voltage limits.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2010Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: Hospira, Inc.Inventor: Michael G. Patent number: 8313308Abstract: A medical pump with a closed loop stroke feedback system and method, for use with a pumping chamber, for example in a cassette, is disclosed. The pump includes a pumping element that intermittently pressurizes a pumping chamber during a pumping cycle. A pressure sensor detects the pressure exerted by the pumping element on the pumping chamber. A position sensor detects the position of the pumping element. A processing unit processes pressure data from the pressure sensor and position data from the position sensor to determine a calculated stroke volume of the pump for a pump cycle, and to adjust a stroke frequency of the pump to compensate for variation in the stroke volume.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2004Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: Hospira, Inc.Inventors: Michael W. Patent number: 7905710Abstract: A medical pump with an improved continuity low flow delivery system and method for use with a pumping chamber, for example in a cassette, is disclosed. The pump includes a pump drive for exerting a force on the pumping chamber and a sensor for sensing the force/pressure exerted by the pump drive on the pumping chamber. The pump drive position sensor senses the position of the pump drive. The medical pump also includes a processing unit and a memory having a programming code adapted to calculate the rate of change of the sensed force/pressure values and determine whether the rate of change of the sensed force/pressure values meets a rate of change threshold. Once the rate of change threshold is met, the programming code is adapted to calculate a remaining pump drive travel value for determining how much farther the pump drive should travel before the end of an effective pump cycle.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2006Date of Patent: March 15, 2011Assignee: Hospira, Inc.Inventors: David T.
