  • Patent number: 5357585
Abstract: A headphone assembly adapted for engaging a user's head includes an adjustable headband having first and second ends. A right ear piece is attached to a first end, and a left ear piece is attached to a second end of the headband. Each ear piece is substantially semi-circular shaped, and has a substantially inverted U-shaped shell having an inverted U-shaped inner wall. The U-shaped inner wall defines an acoustic cavity having a bottom end opening for receiving approximately the top half of the user's ear. A rear wall of the acoustic cavity has a number of holes extending therethrough behind which a speaker is mounted. An inverted U-shaped chamber is provided about the acoustic cavity and the outer perimeter of the ear piece. The right ear piece chamber will hold the electronic circuitry necessary for a cordless receiver.

  • Patent number: 5351366
Abstract: An improved end clamp for a multi-strand aramid rope has an outer sleeve formed with an internal bore having a taper of between 11/4 degrees and 13/4 degrees. A tapered wedging plug having a taper of between 21/4 degrees and 23/4 degrees is inserted into the sleeve bore and compresses separated equi-spaced strands of the rope therebetween in essentially tangential contact. An annular clearance space is formed between the larger end of the sleeve bore and the larger end of the tapered plug and has an area substantially equal to or slightly less than the area of the aramid material of the rope whereby the separated strands of the rope are in abutting engagement throughout the annular clearance space to increase the holding capability of the clamp. The ratio of the tapered plug length to the diameter of the uncompressed rope varies from about 9 to 1 and 11 to 1.

  • Patent number: 5350084
Abstract: A positive displacement material mixing, metering and dispensing device having a housing with a pair of material inlet ports, and a pair of material outlet ports which are in communication with a pair of holding cavities, and a pair of valve chambers. A spool is slidably mounted in each of said valve chambers. An air actuated piston is in contact with opposite ends of the spools. Each spool has a reduced diameter central portion which communicates with a respective one of the material holding cavities at all times, but is in communication with the inlet and outlet ports only at discrete positions in the operating cycle and is never in communication with both the inlet and outlet ports simultaneously. One end of a pair of push rods moves into and out of the material holding cavities, with the other ends of the push rods being simultaneously actuated by an air piston.

  • Patent number: 5349534
Abstract: An automatic form dispensing system for a variety of transactions has a housing with an operator interface for receiving operator input, and has a form dispensing assembly in the housing and a roll of blank form stock and two rolls of a carrier web containing blank stickers retained thereon by a pressure sensitive adhesive. At least one of the stickers is removed automatically from the carrier web and applied to the blank form stock as the blank form stock moves towards a dispense slot of the housing. A printer thermally prints information on the sticker and on a portion of the blank form stock adjacent the applied sticker in response to the operator input. A cutter cuts the printed potion of the form stock which contains the applied sticker from the roll of blank form stock to provide a completed printed form. A dispensing device then dispenses the printed form from the housing through a dispense slot.

  • Patent number: 5339555
Abstract: A device for the safe handling of a fish preferably is formed as a one-piece plastic member having a rectangular body formed by two pairs of spaced parallel frame members defining a central opening. A slender, elongated rod is attached to an extended end of the bottom frame member and extends upwardly outwardly therefrom forming a V-shaped space with a front frame member. The rod terminates in a pointed end beyond a top frame member and is adapted to extend through one of the gills and mouth of a fish. A series of gripping recesses are formed in a back frame member to facilitate grasping of the handle by a user.

  • Patent number: 5324004
Abstract: A vehicle ramp is formed as a unitary sheet metal member and has a inclined ramp portion provided with longitudinally spaced rows of stiffening bosses and a flat reinforcement area at a lower end of the ramp. A raised wheel rest portion has a generally flat bottom surface and is reinforced by a transverse projection which terminates at a pair of longitudinally extending side depression formed at the junction of the wheel rest portion and the ramp. A pair of raised rails extend completely along the sides of the ramp and wheel rest portion, and downwardly along the sides of an end wall which forms the elevating rear support portion of the ramp. The stiffening bosses are arranged in alternating rows of three and four bosses per row. A stop is formed at the junction of the wheel rest portion and the elevating support portion and has a rearwardly inclined transverse stiffening projection.

  • Patent number: 5308026
Abstract: This invention provides an improved cable clamp construction for telecommunication cables such as coaxial cables made from continuous filaments of optical glass fibers which are surrounded by an annulus of aramid material and contained within an outer plastic jacket. In order to provide intermediate gripping action on the continuous cable without its interruption, the gripping action must be carefully controlled and distributed over a relatively sizable intermediate area of the cable to prevent damage to the fragile fibers of the cable over a long useful life in varying climatic conditions. The gripping clamp is comprised of a limited number of components which are capable of surrounding and gripping the cable without undue flexure, the clamp being comprised essentially of a separable sleeve member and a separable plug member, both of which have tapered surfaces to positively secure the cable with compressive forces over a localized area.

  • Patent number: 5302078
Abstract: A machine and method for automatically unloading a cassette from a loaded security package of the type having a storage compartment and an access opening providing access into the compartment, and further having a lock plate movable over the access opening and into a locked position to block removal of the cassette from the security package. The security package is fed into an unload station by a pressure-actuated slide plate. Thereafter, a pressure-actuated unlock cylinder will automatically insert a plurality of pins into engagement with locking projections on the security package to disengage the lock plate from the locking projections. A pressure-actuated cylinder then will move the lock plate away from the access opening allowing free access to the storage compartment within the security package.
