  • Patent number: 7678159
Abstract: A method of manufacturing carpet provides for an old art dyeing effect. Specifically, acid and cationic dyes are provided in a solution to a carpet tufted with cationic and acid dye fibers. The carpet is preferably tufted in such a way that there is a relative scarcity of one of the cationic and acid dye fibers at a first width. An abundance of the other dye accumulates in higher concentration than in surrounding areas at the first width. This higher concentration tends to diffuse and/or be moved by other mechanisms to the surrounding areas or widths where the dye attaches to appropriate contacts. This creates at least one of the dark band, a fade and/or a old art dye effect at that location. By precisely controlling the carpet fiber location at the upper surface, the dye solution and the dyeing process, fades and other process can be precisely controlled for repeatable performance as has not been experienced in the prior art.

  • Patent number: 7653971
Abstract: The present invention related generally to a device for adding moisture to fibrous material such as cotton. The conditioning device receives a continuous cotton batt from a battery condenser. The continuous cotton batt is fed between two opposing drums. Hot moist air is fed into one drum and drawn out of the perforated surface of the drum, through the batt as it is being compressed between the two drums, and into the other drum. The opposing drums are internally compartmented by a plurality of longitudinal staves, each compartment being covered by a corresponding segment of the perforated surface. Hot dry air is fed into the compartments of the drums when the corresponding segment of the surface is not carrying the cotton batt in order to dry the surface of the drum and clear the perforations of any lint that might have been retained on the surface.

  • Patent number: 7637958
Abstract: A device is provided to lock the residual limb of an amputee into a prosthesis. The device is comprised of rolling elements within a tapered housing which accepts a smooth plunger, such as a wire, cable, or rod connected to a suspension sleeve, with minimal resistance while opposing removal of the plunger from the locking device until the rolling elements have been retracted with a release mechanism. The nature of this device allows it to compensate for irregularities or wear in the plunger while continuing to securely lock the prosthesis to the sleeve. This locking device will function properly with a certain amount of misalignment between the lock and the plunger.

  • Patent number: 7638008
Abstract: A method for preparing carpet by using polyurethane to anneal secondary backing to a greige, comprising fibers attached to a primary backing. The polyurethane monomers are mixed just prior to application to the greige primary backing allowing the relatively low viscosity polyurethane to penetrate the fibers of the primary backing to aid in fiber lock. The polyurethane is puddle between two rollers that coat a layer of polyurethane onto the greige. The polyurethane coated greige is then contacted with the secondary backing before complete polymerization to insure sufficient tack to hold the backings together resulting in a durable carpet requiring a relatively low weight of polyurethane monomers.

  • Patent number: 7626283
Abstract: An alternative power source provides alternating current (AC) through a proper connector into a first outlet of a pre-existing electrical distribution system which is normally powered by an alternating current electrical power supply through main breakers and a breaker box. At least one of the breakers which controls power from the normal AC electrical power supply on the electrical distribution system is opened prior to connecting the alternative power supply. The alternative power supply provides electricity through the proper connector into the first outlet, or node, to provide alternating current to a selected portion of the electrical distribution system, and possibly to both halves of the pre-existing electrical distribution system if the proper connector is connected to a 240 volt outlet, or if two proper connectors are utilized and connected to first and second outlets with the first and second outlets on each of the two phase (power) wires of the pre-existing electrical distribution system.

  • Patent number: 7617637
Abstract: A playground roofing system, for use in protecting sections of a playground system, is provided having a support structure and a molded frame structure. The frame structure is molded to appear as the soffits, fascia and gutters of a real roof, and includes an interior perimeter that has means to connect the frame structure to a molded roof section. The molded roof section is designed to provide a theme to the roof and is interchangeable such that different themes can be quickly effected by releasing and removing the first roof section and replacing it with a second, differently themed, roof section. The roofing system is designed to permit the attachment and removal of the roof section from within the interior perimeter of the frame so that an installer need not have to climb above the roof section to install the roof section.
