  • Patent number: 8201960
Abstract: A children's book light comprises a head, the head including a light source for illuminating at least one page of a book; a body, the body including a page holder for holding open a page of the book; and a flexible neck, the flexible neck connecting the head to the body. Preferably, the head represents the head of a fictional character or an animal. Preferably, the page holder includes a pair of arms capable of holding the book open to a selected page. Preferably, the flexible neck is constructed of metal, most preferably, gooseneck tubing. Preferably, the light source includes a light emitting diode (LED), and the body includes at least one battery, the at least one battery electrically connected to the LED situated in the head via wiring, the wiring passing through the flexible neck from the battery to the LED. Preferably, the flexible neck is structured and arranged to allow the head to move relative to the body.

  • Patent number: 8167742
Abstract: A training strap for improving a golfer's golf stroke is provided. The training strap includes a shoulder strap that attaches around the lead shoulder of the golfer with the opposite end attaching around the golfer's thumb on the same lead side of the body. Preferably, the training strap includes a strap length adjuster allowing the training strap to be fitted to the proper length. The golfer practices the stroke with the criterion being to keep the training strap taut. If the training strap stays taut, the user will develop a very fundamentally sound, repeatable stroke. When this is done the golfer is successfully utilizing the radius from the lead shoulder to hands to bottom out at the correct spot, thereby creating a good chipping, pitching or putting stroke.

  • Patent number: 8146935
Abstract: A device for a high-clearance motor vehicle is provided. Preferably, the device comprises an elongated step; and one or more supports, wherein each of the one or more supports includes: a lift bar; a base; and an actuator; wherein the base holds the actuator and the lift bar is pivotally attached to the base on a distal end and to the step on the opposite end; and wherein, when the device is operated, depending on user selection, the actuator either lowers the lift bar causing the step to be positioned for use or raises the lift bar causing the step to be retracted, and if retracted, the step blocks at least one door of the motor vehicle making it difficult to steal the motor vehicle. Additionally, when the step is retracted, the step impedes “ding” damage from an adjacent motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8136368
Abstract: A modular evaporator which can be assembled from a number of standard modules is provided. Depending on the requirements, the modular evaporator can be assembled to meet a wide range of design cooling loads. Additionally, the modular evaporator is capable of generating and holding ice for thermal storage purposes, eliminating the need for external ice storage tanks. Furthermore, the heat transfer and thermal storage fluid for the evaporator can simply be water which considerably simplifies the system, lowers the cost, and increases the efficiency of the heat transfer loop.

  • Patent number: 8128149
Abstract: A system for securing a truck bed cover includes a pair of vertical side rails clamped to the bed railing of a pickup truck. A first one of a pair of horizontal side rails is attached along the front side of the truck bed and the second one of the pair of horizontal side rails is attachable via a latching mechanism along the rear. The cover is attached along respective front and rear edges to each of the horizontal side rails, and is attachable along respective side edges to the vertical side rails, preferably, using a hook-and-loop fastener. Tensioning devices are employed to keep the cover taut and even on both sides.

  • Patent number: 8061919
Abstract: A sponge cleaning utensil has an inner core for holding a cleaning agent and encouraging the cleaning agent to be continually in contact with water drawn into the inner core preferably via a plurality of conduits which are preferably molded into the sponge material. The inner core is fabricated so as to be substantially larger than the solid cleaning agent therein allowing the cleaning agent free movement within the core. This allows water to freely surround the cleaning agent creating rich lather production and the lather to be easily removed to the surface. The conduits preferably have openings at a plurality of positions on the sponge exterior surface so as to provide even moisture and lather to all portions of the sponge exterior including the edges.

  • Patent number: 7944357
Abstract: A system for gathering and assessing intelligence information comprises a credibility filter configured to assign a credibility value to intelligence information sent from a user. A data warehouse is coupled to the credibility filter and the data warehouse is configured to store intelligence information from the user. A predictive query engine is coupled to the data warehouse. The predictive query engine is configured to query the data warehouse to determine potential threat data. The predictive query engine is also configured to store the potential threat data in the data warehouse. An alert poller is also coupled to the data warehouse. The alert poller is configured to receive the potential threat data and compare the potential threat data to one or more comparison factors pre-selected by the user.

  • Patent number: 7860815
Abstract: A near natural language format is used to codify knowledge (including information, programs, rules, and procedures). The codified knowledge is stored in knowledge snippet files according to a nomenclature in which each file has a name relating to a particular interrogatory and the type of the interrogatory (e.g., having a file extension of: “.what”, “.how”, “.where”, “.which”, “.when”, “.who”, or “.why”). The content of each of the knowledge snippet files comprises an answer to the interrogatory. Language systems and methods, including a run-time environment to process or execute the knowledge, are provided to use the knowledge so represented. The knowledge may also be presented in many different perspectives or views.
