  • Patent number: 7307809
Abstract: Tape heads and controllers for controlling such heads in a tape drive are described. A controller may determine a first parameter corresponding to the similarity between data read by a first pair of read elements of a head, a second parameter corresponding to the similarity between data read by another pair of read elements having one read element in common with the first pair, and a position of the head with respect to a data track based upon a relationship between the first and second parameters. The controller may adjust the head to a proper lateral position based upon the determined position.

  • Patent number: 7039543
Abstract: Publishable yield information can be produced by obtaining an actual yield value associated with an integrated circuit (IC) or portion of an IC formed on each one of a plurality of wafers using a semiconductor wafer fabrication process. An average yield value associated with a plurality of ICs or portions of an IC formed on each one of the plurality of wafers using the semiconductor fabrication process is determined. A transformed yield value associated with the IC or portion of an IC is generated using the actual yield value and the average yield value.

  • Patent number: 6498771
Abstract: Data storage units (1) for storing a plurality of individual data storage media (12), the units comprising at least one removable magazine (9, 10) in which the individual data storage media (12) can be stored within the units (1), the magazines (9, 10) being removable from the front of the units (1). At least one drive (5, 6) which reads data from or writes data to individual data storage media (12) is positioned relative to the magazine(s) (9, 10) so that the storage media (12) are fed therein and removed therefrom in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction in which the media are removed from the magazine(s) (5, 6). A selector (20) facilitates the selective removal of media (12) from the magazines (9, 10) in which they are stored, and feeds them into the drive (5, 6), and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 6342368
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polypeptide composition effective to alter the activity of a first protein that interacts with a second protein, where the second protein contains at least one WD-40 region. The polypeptides of the present invention typically have between 4 and 50 amino acids whose sequence is the same as a sequence of the same length in the WD-40 region of the second protein. The invention further includes a method of altering the activity of the above described first protein. In one embodiment of the invention the polypeptide composition is effective to alter the activity of a protein kinase C, where the protein kinase C interacts with a second protein, and the second protein contains at least one WD-40 region (e.g., RACK1).
