  • Patent number: 4671203
Abstract: A duck blind adapted for mounting on the gunwales of a boat hull includes separate bow, stern and central frame sections adapted for use on various size boats. Camouflage designed cover sections with windows are provided for each frame section and are removably connected by zippers to provide a cover over the entire boat. Desired access points or shooting stations from the boat to the outside are obtained by the stragetically arrangement of zippered fasteners. A reticulated camouflage type curtain is arranged inside the cover sections to provide concealment for the hunter when designated cover sections are unzippered. A separate zippered section in the central cover provides ingress and egress for the hunter's dog and the reticulated curtain can be arranged by appropriate zippering to provide an enclosure about the dog's station within the boat to protect the hunter from the water spray when the dog returns to the boat from the water and shakes itself off.

  • Patent number: 4666177
Abstract: A hitch for coupling a drawbar on a draft vehicle to a tongue bar on a trailer or pulled vehicle includes a preferably square tubular housing having a forward end for removable attachment to the drawbar and a rearward end for receiving and removably securing the tongue bar. Projecting from the rearward end is a four sided funnel or hopper shaped tongue bar guide comprising respective top and bottom immovable plates rigidly secured to the top and bottom edges of the housing and movable opposed side plates each hingedly secured to opposed sides of the housing so as to be separately movable away from and into abutment with the top and bottom plates. Spring means yieldingly hold the side plates in abutment with the top and bottom plates and a releasable locking assembly within the housing holds the side plates immovable while the tongue bar is being introduced and guided into the housing.

  • Patent number: 4592432
Abstract: A boring head for forming a horizontal hole for a pipe installation in the subsoil beneath a roadway and the like is provided with an electrical operable guide extending forwardly from its leading end that can be selectively elevated or lowered to change the plane of forward movement of the head through the subsoil so that the location of the hole at the end of the bore can be accurately predicted. The respective movements of the guide, upwardly and downwardly, are automatically effected in response to a battery operated electronic control system designed to sense and maintain a horizontal position and to convert any sensed deviations therefrom into appropriate signals for activating and deactivating movement of the guide. The boring head is provided with a motion detecting component operably connected to the guide so that in the absence of motion in the head, the guide is rendered immobile.

  • Patent number: 4527537
Abstract: A diamond point type dressing tool with means for adjustment to dead center within a tolerance of .+-.0.0001" is mounted to a control head assembly capable of producing horizontal, rotary and vertical movements of the tool either independently or simultaneously to reproduce from a remotely disposed associated template any desired contour of angles and radii on the peripheral edge of a grinding wheel. A tracing rod, snugly but slidably journalled through a support ball, has a tracing end adapted for manual movement over the profile of the template and a control end operatively associated with the control head for reproducing the template profile in the movement of the dressing tool and for rotating the diamond point where necessary on the profile. The ball support is seated in the control head and is fixed against lateral or vertical movement but has the capablility of turning in place as the orientation of the axis of the rod is changed during movement over the profile.

  • Patent number: 4504075
Abstract: A carrier having special utility for transporting recreational vehicles such as motorcycles, bicycles and snowmobiles is designed to be used either as an independent towable trailer or, with or without such vehicles carried thereon, to be removably coupled to a towable travel trailer. This carrier includes a V frame structure having a hitch ball coupling at the apex for detachable connection to a towing vehicle and opposed wheel assemblies capable of quick and easy adjustment to be either in or out of ground engagement or, if desired, completely removed when not required. The diverging members of the carrier frame are designed to embrace and be detachably secured to a conventional tongue with a hitch ball coupling on a travel trailer, and a hitch ball is suitably mounted intermediate the diverging members of the carrier frame for registration with the standard hitch ball coupling on the trailer tongue.

  • Patent number: 4407252
Abstract: A fuel injection system for internal combustion engines includes an improved direct injection pump having a reciprocating metering plunger and an improved injector for atomizing and injecting the fuel into the combustion chamber. Respective moving parts of the pump and injector are supported in low friction seals free of contact with other parts and require no lubrication from the fuel pumped or from other sources so as to operate efficiently without galling on gasoline or diesel engines on any combustible fuel or any combination of such fuels. The pump includes a housing provided at one end with a fuel chamber of a predetermined capacity that has a single opening for receiving fuel from a source of supply through a valved fuel inlet and from which opening, fuel is dispensed to the injector through a valved fuel outlet line.

  • Patent number: 4372339
Abstract: A yard hydrant includes an improved valve assembly connecting the hydrant standpipe at a point below the frost line to a source of water under pressure. A hollow and generally cylindrical housing of such assembly is provided with a bore concentrically reduced relative to the diameter of the housing and having an upper plane spaced inwardly from the upper end of the housing to receive a rod mounted and handle operated valve. The bore terminates at its lower end in a valve seat defining a further concentrically reduced access opening to the water supply. In spaced concentric relationship about the bore are a plurality of water passageways each in communication with said bore and each extending from the upper plane thereof for communication with the standpipe to a point spaced above the valve seat so that the bore is full circle only intermediate the valve seat and the lower limits of the passageways. A drain hole is provided through the housing to the bore near the upper plane thereof.

  • Patent number: 4362338
Abstract: A safety device for automatically actuating the air brake system for an entire train of railroad cars when any one or more of the cars becomes derailed includes a derail wheel on its own axle attached to the truck frame between the wheels both on the front and rear set of wheels which are nearest to the train line and normally, such derail wheel is spaced slightly above the rail but will engage the ground in a derailment causing it to rotate. A flexible cable is secured at one end to the axle of the derail wheel so as to be windable thereon when such wheel rotates and has its other end preferably connected to the nearest air hose coupling that is attached to a like coupling on an adjacent car. The winding up of the cable on the derail wheel assembly in a derailment acts to pull the air hose coupling loose from its coupling with the air hose on an adjacent car and the resulting breaking of the train line sets the brakes for all cars in the train.

  • Patent number: 4338751
Abstract: A spiral stairway construction, designed for ease of assembly, is adapted for use by hobbists on a reduced scale, for display in model homes and elsewhere and for a spiral stairway installation in residences and the like. This stairway comprises a semicircular wall, a central vertical post support assembly and a plurality of treads or steps each diverging from its mounting or proximal end to its distal end as is usual in spiral stairway treads. Each proximal end has a mounting hole for removable attachment to the post support assembly in a vertically spaced relationshiped provided by spacing alignment on such support and each distal end is removably engaged with a designated point on the wall to dispose the treads in a helical path. The assembled construction is free standing and does not require anchoring the wall or post support assembly to any supporting surface.

  • Patent number: 4337854
Abstract: A clutch pedal operated rod to the brake lever in a transmission brake system for tractors and the like is formed of two spaced longitudinally aligned rod lengths connected by a coupling for transmitting force therebetween through a fluid medium. The coupling is secured to the end of one length and slidable receives a spring loaded piston head on the aligned end of the other length. The piston head is in fluid seal engagement with the coupling and separates such coupling into an upper and lower chamber with a fluid supply disposed in the upper chamber in non-operating position. A fluid conduit exteriorly of the coupling communicates with both chambers. Depression of the clutch pedal effects relative movement of the piston head against the fluid supply in the upper chamber where the fluid acts as a solid member under pressure to transmit force to the brake operating rod for stopping the transmission.
