  • Patent number: 6265622
Abstract: A method and composition are disclosed for the hydroxylation of aromatic substrates in the presence of oxygen, hydrogen, and a catalyst. In a preferred embodiment, benzene is oxidized to phenol in the presence of oxygen, a vanadium catalyst, and hydrogen. The method is economical, safe, and amenable to commercial scale-up.

  • Patent number: 6214927
Abstract: A method is provided for making aqueous emulsions of functionalized organopolysiloxane particles having a volume average particle diameter in a range between about 300 nanometers to about 1 micron. The aqueous silicone emulsions can be employed as part of a coating composition, for example, a shampoo, to impart improved surface characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4781506
Abstract: A self-drilling screw having a head at one end and a forged drilling end configuration at the other. The drilling end configuration comprises a pair of longitudinally extending flutes which are separated by land portions and which extend through a tapered tip end to form two cutting edges. The forging operation is performed in such a way as to promote complete formation of the tip end and that may be achieved by inhibiting material flow away from that tip end or by promoting extrusion of material towards the tip end. The drilling end portion of the screw is of elliptical cross section having a minor axis in the region of 60 to 80% of the major axis, and a fillet is formed in the base of each flute at the tip end portion of the flute. Each fillet has a flat surface arranged generally parallel to the screw axis and angularly relative to the ajacent cutting edge of the tip end.

  • Patent number: 4332127
Abstract: A self-propelled combine for harvesting a crop and including a crop threshing and separating mechanism and a feeder for feeding crop material into the threshing and separating mechanism. The feeder has an electro-hydraulic control system for engaging and disengaging drive to the feeder. An electronic control system monitors the speed of the feeder drive and actuates the electro-hydraulic control system to disengage the feeder drive in response to sensing feeder drive speed below a predetermined minimum.

  • Patent number: 4325209
Abstract: A self-propelled crop harvester having a header for harvesting crop material, a macerator for shredding the crop into small particles, a press for separating the crop material into liquid and fibrous fractions, a blower for conveying the fibrous fraction into a trailing wagon, a separator for separating the liquid fraction into a protein portion and a heated deproteinized juice, and a system for directing the deproteinized juice in a high pressure flow to cut the standing crop at the header. In another embodiment the heated juice is applied to the standing crop to moisten and heat the crop for more efficient subsequent processing.
