Abstract: A human powered vehicle having a mechanism to run the vehicle by applying the operator's weight on at least one pedal in a reciprocating manner. The pedal moves a cranking body, which unwinds a drum. The drum is attached to at least one wheel by a directional freewheel clutch. The vehicle can also be simultaneously powered by a motor, whereas the motor takes over only when the vehicle reaches a certain speed, and automatically disengages when the vehicle slows down below a certain speed. Both the human powered and motor mechanism can operate independently without rotating any part of the other.

Abstract: The present invention relates to goggles, in particular to ski and scuba diving goggles, with a digital camera. The camera, including the image receiving lens, digital storage, control devices and the battery units, is an integral part of the goggle. The camera and its accessories are imbedded into the goggle such that there is minimal deviation of the shape of the goggle from conventional goggles.

Abstract: A translation and rotation mechanism is disclosed, which comprises of one or more bi-directional electrostatic actuators. Each bi-directional electrostatic actuator comprising of fixed electrodes and movable electrodes, where the fixed electrodes of each actuator being attached onto a base. The movable electrodes of each actuator are connected to the translating and rotation unit through a spring system. The movable elements of each said actuator being able to rotate with respect to the base plane by applying voltage signals to the actuator and by controlling the voltage signals applied to each said actuator independently, said translating and rotation unit being able to translate, rotate, or translate and rotate simultaneously.

Abstract: A reinforced door jamb and method thereof, to prevent breaking of a lock. A doorjamb is reinforced by inserting one or two reinforced plates into the door jamb. One plate is inserted close to the door latch receiving recess on the interior side of the door jamb, and the other plate is inserted close to the exterior side of the door jamb. The reinforced plates are then connected to each other using high strength rods or bolts.

Abstract: A mechanism for spinning fibrous material to yarn employing the ‘ring spinning process’ on a powered ring frame unit. The device can be adjusted and fixed for the thread count in production. The spinning cone reciprocating up and down to take up the spun yarn, thus ensuring most optimum geometry between the drafting roller and the spinning ring, adjustable at will. Each spinning cone on the entire frame being independent of each other in drive, speed and distance from the drafting assembly. Computers using a new software control the entire process. The described mechanism reduces power consumption, mechanical vibration and material breakage, consequently increasing productivity of the process and quality of the product.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the foot operated musical instruments like tambourine, cymbals, jingles and cowbells. These musical instruments can be operated by using one or both feet at the same time. The tambourine playing shoes can be converted to a percussion shoe very easily. The foot operated instruments of the present invention lets musicians to play multiple instruments at the same time, while giving a new found sound to a musician's tapping foot.

Abstract: A wheelchair luggage towing device to securely attach a luggage to the back of a wheelchair and pull the luggage along with the wheelchair. The device can be used with wheeled, as well as unwheeled luggage using a wheeled luggage carrier. The device comprises of a single or multiplicity of bars. A single bar is used with wheelchairs which have long vertical bars on their back. Two bars are used with wheelchairs which have a horizontal bar at their upper back. And three bars are used with wheelchairs which have two short vertical bars and no horizontal bar. In this case, a first bar is connected horizontally to the vertical bars of the wheelchair. A second bar is connected vertically to the first bar. And a third bar is connected horizontally to the lower end of the second bar. In all cases, the luggage is secured on the horizontal bar located close to the ground.

Abstract: An electrostatic actuator comprising: first and second comb arrays of electrodes arranged on a base, the electrodes of the first and second comb arrays being interleaved; a third comb array of electrodes spring mounted over the first and second comb arrays, the electrodes of the third comb array being essentially aligned with the electrodes of the second comb array; means for applying a first voltage to the third comb array and a second voltage to the first and second comb arrays to generate an attractive force acting on the third comb array to move the third comb array toward the second comb array; and, means for applying the first voltage to the second and third comb arrays and the second voltage to the first comb array to generate a repulsive force acting on the third comb array to move the third comb array away from the second comb array.
