  • Patent number: 6984713
Abstract: The invention relates to a sulfonated polyetherketonketone (sPEKK), which is amorphous and/or which can be obtained by sulfonating amorphous PEKK. This sPEKK can be preferably produced by using a diphenyl ether and a benzenedicarboxylic acid derivate. Particularly preferred is the use of benzenedicarboxylic acid dichloride. The benzenedicarboxylic acid derivative is advantageously provided in the form of a mixture consisting of at least two different benzenedicarboxylic acid derivatives, in particular, an isophthalic acid derivative and a terephthalic acid derivative.

  • Patent number: 6984406
Abstract: The present invention relates to a Bacillus sp. strain producing a mannanase which is highly active in the neutral and the acidic media. The Bacillus sp. WL-1 strain (KCTC 0800BP), which is isolated from the soil, produces in large scale the mannanase in the culture medium containing lactose and bran, wherein the mannanase is highly active in the neutral and the acidic media so said mannanase is useful as an additive for feeds and is helpful in the decomposition of hemicellulose.

  • Patent number: 6983822
Abstract: The present invention concerns an automotive protective mat (1), also known as throw in mat or protective mat. This mat comprises a microporous stiffening layer (2) (acoustical membrane). This layer may be composed of several sheets. The overall air flow resistance is between 500 Ns/m3–4000 Ns/m3. It is essential for this mat (1) that it is hydrophobic. In order to achieve an enhanced acoustical effectiveness a decoupling layer (6) is foreseen between the microporous stiffening layer (2) and the vehicle floor (8). This decoupling layer might be incorporated in the mat (1) or constituted by the underlaying carpet or sound absorber of the vehicle floor. Further layers or sheets such as adhesive layers, non skid layers, face fabrics or carpets and/or loft layers can be added to the claimed mat.

  • Patent number: 6981378
Abstract: Uninterruptible power is supplied to a load connected to a power line by connecting the power line to a rotatable member that includes a Rankine cycle turbine coupled to a device that operates as a motor when line power is operative thereby rotating the member at a standby rotational speed so that a predetermined amount of kinetic energy is stored in the rotating member, and that operates as a generator when the line power is inoperative and the member is rotated by the application of vaporized working fluid to the turbine. Working fluid is vaporized and maintained at an operational temperature level only when the line power is inoperative. The working fluid is held at a standby temperature level, preferably greater than the operational temperature level, while the power line is operative whereby the working fluid contains a predetermined amount of stored thermal energy while the power line is operative.

  • Patent number: 6982592
Abstract: A frequency discriminators (FD) and frequency modulation (FM) demodulators, utilizing single sideband (SSB) complex conversion directly to zero IF, suitable for direct demodulation at high frequencies of analog FM or digital FSK modulated signals, as well as for high speed frequency discrimination (or frequency comparison) in applications such as frequency acquisition in frequency synthesizers. The complex SSB down-converter consists of a quad of mixers and quadrature splitters in both the signal path and local oscillator (LO) path. Each mixer receives both the signal and the LO, each either in-phase or quadrature. The outputs of mixers are combined in pairs, to produce the SSB in-phase (I) baseband signal and the SSB quadrature (Q) baseband signal. Both I and Q signals are then delayed, each multiplied by un-delayed version of the other one. The multiplication products are summed together, to produce an FD error signal, or an FM demodulated signal at the output.

  • Patent number: 6978562
Abstract: A greeting card made of a single sheet of material and adapted for holding a substantially flat object, comprises at least two sections separated by a single folding line, a first of the two sections having a smaller dimension than the second section in the direction perpendicular to the folding line. One of the two sections is formed with at least one slit spaced from the folding line and the other section is formed with at least one slit-engaging portion insertable into the at least one slit when the greeting card is folded along the folding line. Thereby, the first section lies flat over the second section and a pocket is formed for holding a flat object.

  • Patent number: 6977556
Abstract: A single loop PLL frequency synthesizer for operation in the MHz to GHz range, suitable for integration in integrated circuits, operates at high comparison frequencies thus achieving superior phase noise performance, having wide loop bandwidths while able to tune in small frequency steps. It is based on the fact that the output frequency and the reference clock frequency always have a rational relationship, and so can always be represented as a ratio of two integer numbers. This ratio is expanded into various expressions of equivalent fraction expansions taking the form of a series of divided, added or subtracted terms, each being a rational number in itself. This ratio is realized in hardware through stages of frequency conversions using single sideband mixers (either the upper or lower sideband, and frequency dividers. This process of frequency translation thus generates the comparison frequency to which the PLL phase-locks the VCO.

  • Patent number: 6975191
Abstract: A resettable switching device, e.g. a relay, comprises a fixed contact (18) and a movable contact (28). A solenoid (12) is fixed relative to the fixed contact and a ferromagnetic plunger (20) carries the movable contact. A spring (24) biases the plunger away from the fixed contact so the device is normally open. When the device is set a further ferromagnetic element, e.g. a plunger (22), holds the first plunger (20) in a closed-contact position by magnetic attraction against the action of the spring (24). When a predetermined current condition exists in the solenoid the magnetic attraction between the element and plunger is reduced below the level necessary to hold the plunger so that the movable contact disengages the fixed contact.

  • Patent number: 6972432
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display, a metal layer forms a first light blocking layer having an opening that is shifted from gaps between adjacent reflective electrodes. Accordingly, light entering the gaps is blocked by the metal layer and does not directly reach lower layers. Between the reverses of the reflective electrodes and the surface of the light blocking layer made of the metal layer, light may be reflected multiple times and may leak through the opening of the light blocking layer toward lower layers than the metal layer. Such leakage of light is blocked by wiring regions that cover transistor diffusion regions, respectively. As a result, light is substantially completely blocked before reaching the diffusion regions, i.e., photosensitive regions of first and second transistors.

  • Patent number: 6966352
Abstract: A welding device has two mutually engaging welding wheels, together with a separating device having a blade with a cutting edge. Two film webs can be welded together in conventional manner using the welding device. The blade is able to separate a projecting length from the welded film, the blade being heated. Heating takes place by a heat bridge, which connects the blade to a heater of the welding device. This economizes a separate heater for the blade.
