  • Patent number: 7605048
Abstract: High capacitance value capacitors are formed using bimetal foils of an aluminum layer attached to a copper layer. The copper side of a bimetallic copper/aluminum foil or a monometallic aluminum foil is temporarily protected using aluminum or other materials, to form a sandwich. The exposed aluminum is treated to increase the surface area of the aluminum by at least one order of magnitude, while not attacking any portion of the protected metal. When the sandwich is separated, the treated bimetal foil is formed into a capacitor, where the copper layer is one electrode of the capacitor and the treated aluminum layer is in intimate contact with a dielectric layer of the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 7600648
Abstract: A locking cap for a container has a combination lock built into the top. Two or more thumbwheels with numbers or letters are mounted beneath the top surface of the cap or gung plugs. The thumb wheels have through holes corresponding to the numbers or letters. One or more pins are slidably mounted in the cap. The pins are locked by the thumb wheels unless the through holes are in alignment. The pins either project through holes in the container or abut inwardly, projecting portions with the top of the container to prevent turning of the cap unless the pins are retracted. Combinations of numbers or letters can be preset at manufacture, or selected at or after sale, using plugs to fill selected through holes.

  • Patent number: 7557497
Abstract: An asymmetrical shunt switch for use in a socket of a string of lights resides in an otherwise typical lamp of a string of lights. The present switch is a shaped spring held in position between the two conducting terminals by a holder so that both of its lateral sides contact the terminals when the base is removed. When the base is inserted, a depending prong on the bottom corner of the base presses one side of the shaped spring away from its terminal and thereby allows current to flow through the Dumet wires to the filament.

  • Patent number: 7555800
Abstract: A composite a deck system having a deck component and a concrete component. The deck component of the present invention includes deck sections, each having a longitudinally-extending rib with spaced apart sidewalls connected to a top wall. At the opposing ends of the sidewalls can be included side edges or webs having upturned flanges with an opening or openings along the flanges that are dimensioned to facilitate composite action between the deck sections and the concrete. The system includes a first deck section, as described, adjacent to a second deck section, wherein the side edges of the first and second deck sections are in juxtaposed relation. These deck sections can be combined with concrete to form a composite deck.

  • Patent number: 7554266
Abstract: A mechanical shunt for use in a socket of a string of lights resides in an otherwise typical lamp of a string of lights. The present shunt is a horizontal spring held in position by a shunt holder between the two conducting terminals on the interior walls of the socket so that the lateral ends of the shunt contact the terminals when the base is removed. When the base is inserted, a depending prong on the bottom of the base presses the shunt into a V-shaped surface formed in the shunt holder to pivot the lateral ends away from the terminals and allow current to flow through the Dumet wires to the filament.

  • Patent number: 7526902
Abstract: A framing system for mounting flexible sheets of material, such as screening in an opening in a wall or porch includes U-shaped channels, or lineals, having at least one external built-in groove for receiving a spline strip for holding an edge of the sheet in place in the groove. Four lineals define a rectangular opening over which the sheet is stretched and then secured in place by jamming its edges into the external spline grooves of the surrounding four lineals with the spline strips to hold the sheet in place. Universal fasteners hold the lineals to the porch walls. The universal fasteners also have alignment grooves on their upper surface, lower surface or both of these surfaces that are useful for receiving an alignment string or wire to align a series of the fasteners across a surface so that they are in line to receive and accurately align a single lineal or multiple lineals arranged end to end.
