  • Patent number: 4304329
Abstract: An improved crown support carrier production blank and erected carrier for use with a plurality of beverage bottles. The production blank and the erected carrier are formed with a plurality of inclined upper side and end panels hingedly attached to a central panel and hingedly attached to a plurality of vertical lower side and end panels. A plurality of T-shaped corner glue tabs are formed in the corners of the production blank and are adhesively secured to the lower side and end panels when the production blank is erected to a completed carrier. The T-shaped glue tabs act as an exceptional reinforcing strip on the corners while their shape and placement are designed to round out or soften the corners rather than have sharp piercing corners typical in prior art carriers. Sunburst bottle receiving openings are positioned in the central panel along with at least one opening for use in carrying the package.

  • Patent number: 4300685
Abstract: A multiple article package is disclosed wherein a plurality of articles such as folded basket beverage containers having a lenticular shape are tightly banded together in a lenticular shaped bundle by at least one diagonally positioned band. The tightly banded lenticular shaped bundle of articles then are packaged in an outer restraint with the articles being utilized to carry the weight of similarly packaged articles that may be loaded on top of the outer restraints. The method utilizes the banded carriers along with the outer lightweight non-load bearing restraint to provide a novel packaging method for shipping the plurality of folded basket beverage carriers to the customer. The invention may be utilized with many types of lenticular shaped articles including the beverage containers shown in the drawings.

  • Patent number: 4260071
Abstract: A bulk material container is disclosed which includes an exterior body and an interior body having separation means associated with the exterior and interior bodies to provide protection from punctures and to provide for expansion of the products packaged within the interior body. The interior body comprises a first inner liner and a second outer liner laminated together in a predetermined manner to provide a stress reduction means in the interior body. The stress reduction means is formed by offsetting the inner and outer liner manufacturing joints from each other a predetermined distance to provide a triple thickness at the two manufacturing joints along a portion of one of the upstanding walls of the interior body. A topcap with water proofed corners and a retention area for a banding strap may be used with the container and when used the topcap also has means for being interlocked to the exterior body of the bulk material container.

  • Patent number: 4244020
Abstract: A calculator for use in calculating the appropriate caloric and/or carbohydrate value of a food or drink item that is to be consumed by the user of the device is disclosed. The calculator utilizes a modified four-basic-function calculator of the type having the functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. This basic calculator has been modified by adding a plurality of first contacts to the calculator which visually indicate alphabetical letters and are connected to numerical contacts in the standard calculator. A plurality of second contacts are numerical in function and indicate pre-determined food and drink items and are electrically connected to the calculator circuit while a plurality of third contacts are multiplier contacts and have located in proximity thereto indications of pre-determined alphabetical letters which correspond to caloric and/or carbohydrate values of varying portions of food and drink items.

  • Patent number: 4184626
Abstract: An improved wrap-around beverage carrier which provides for total separation between adjacent containers in the carrier is provided in the subject invention. In the preferred embodiment the carrier is designed to hold twelve cans of a given product and is designed in a one-piece configuration. The novel partitioning arrangement within the carrier permits total separation to prevent cans from coming in contact with each other during shipping, thereby avoiding abrasion marks on printed aluminum beverage cans. The novel divider structure is hinged from an interior partitioned panel and has a novel configuration of the panel wherein the novel configuration allows the partition to be used for total separation without requiring additional partition structures to be placed within the carrier.
