  • Patent number: 7588640
Abstract: A workpiece carrier (2) comprises a rotary frame (3) and a driving part (20), both of which are rotatable about a driving axle (4). The rotary frame (3) can be driven by a motor (6), and carries a plurality of workpiece holders (13) which are distributed around the driving axle (4) so as to be rotatable about holder axes. A driving disc (22) of the driving part (21) is in each case rotatable about an anchorage point (23) from which its center point is at a distance of an eccentricity (E). A transmission part (25) having a coupling cutout which closely receives the driving disc (22) has driving apertures (26) through which there project driving pins (19) of the workpiece holders (13), which said driving pins (19) are likewise at a distance of the eccentricity (E) from the holder axes. The driving part (20) can be driven at a greater angular velocity by the rotation of the rotary frame (3), via an auxiliary gear set (31) attached to the base frame (1).

  • Patent number: 7581723
Abstract: An apparatus for personalizing and inserting articles for mass distribution, includes an envelope hopper for holding a plurality of envelopes which each carry a unique machine readable code associated with a unique individual. An article hopper holds a plurality of articles for the individuals. A code scanner reads the codes and an envelope feeder moves one envelope at a time to the scanner. The envelopes are conveyed from the scanner in sequence to an inserting station and a printer reacting to the scanner prints personal information on the articles, each corresponding the an individual for whom a code has been read by the scanner. The printed articles are then feed in the same sequence to the inserting station and are inserted into a corresponding envelope.

  • Patent number: 7578085
Abstract: An address indicator has panels each displaying a translucent character surrounded by an opaque area. A frame with a channel slidably captures the panels and has an upper chamber above the channel and a rear chamber behind the channel. Stops at opposite ends of the channel keep the panels in the channel and lights such as LEDs are spaced in the upper chamber for casting light into the rear chamber. A translucent screen in the rear chamber defuses light for illuminating the translucent character of each panel. Solar cells charge replaceable, rechargeable batteries for powering the lights.

  • Patent number: 7577064
Abstract: Microplate reader (21) with a computer for controlling the components of said microplate reader (21), comprising a light source (15) for emitting light for irradiating samples (22) or transmitting light through samples (22), and a filter slide (1) situated in the excitation or detection beam path. The microplate reader (21) in accordance with the invention is characterized in that said filter slide (1) comprises an electronic memory (4) for recording and/or retrieving filter-specific data, with said filter-specific data comprising the number and intensity of the light flashes impinging upon a certain filter (2) of said filter slide (1) and/or the intensity and duration of all exposures performed, and that said filter slide (1) comprises a contact point (5,7) jointly with the microplate reader (21) for transmitting such filter-specific data from the computer to the electronic memory (4) of the filter slide (1) and for retrieving such filter-specific data with the computer.

  • Patent number: 7575937
Abstract: A device and method for situating pipette or dispenser tips in a system for manipulating liquid samples, has a robot manipulator for orienting the tips relative to sample containers, drives for moving the robot manipulator and processors for controlling movements and actions of the robot manipulator and/or the tips. At least two tips are situated at an axial distance from each another, on at least two blocks on an arm of the robot manipulator. The axial distance corresponds to a grid spacing of wells of a microplate. At least one of the blocks is individually movable in an X direction and in a Y direction. The method allows time-saving pipetting over of liquid samples between diverse sample containers, such as between sample tubes and microplates having 24, 96, 384, or 1536 wells.

  • Patent number: 7568566
Abstract: A magnetic fastening system for connecting a first member against a second member. The system includes a first flexible magnet longitudinally associated with at least a portion of an edge of the first member and a second flexible magnet longitudinally associated with at least a portion of an edge of the second member. The first and second flexible magnets are aligned to attract one another as the first and second members are moved into their connected position to then pull the first and second members into connecting contact.

  • Patent number: 7566078
Abstract: A system for assembling a high-pressure fluid tube on a tubular pin, is part of a fitting element provided to be used in particular on motor-vehicles, for example for the production of pipes intended for manufacturing braking circuits or other circuits, in which high-pressure oil or other fluids flow. The system has a first inner layer made of plastic, a second layer made of a steel plait or other suitable material such as fibers or the like, a third coating layer of plastic material and a bush made of steel, alloy or other material, fitted into an end of the tube. The tube is fitted on the pin and locked by crimping of a metallic bush having a radial flange extending into an annular groove of the pin and distorting an O-ring in the groove between the flange and the pin.

  • Patent number: 7551064
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for securing a vehicle against theft. According to the invention, at least one essential operating element (2) of the vehicle can be switched between three operating states A, B and C. An external authorization device (3) switches the operating element into the unlimited operating state A. If a defined action (20) is carried out, for example the driver's door is opened, the operating element is switched into the operating state B for a defined period of time. If authorization information is transmitted during this time, the operating element is switched back to the operating state A. Otherwise, once this period of time has expired, the operating element is switched into the non-operational operating state C.
