  • Patent number: 8245053
Abstract: Methods and systems for binding a removable trusted platform module (TPM) subsystem module to an information handling system to provide a core root of trust for the information handling system without requiring soldering down or other hard and permanent (non-removable) attachment of a TPM device to the information handling system planar (e.g., motherboard). The removable TPM subsystem module may be a plug-in module that may be removed from the information handling system planar (e.g., motherboard), while at the same time maintaining the transitive chain of trust, and being capable of remotely attesting its trusted state. An information handling system platform may be provided that has the capability and flexibility of supporting multiple TPMs on the same system planar.

  • Patent number: 8230245
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for power management in information handling systems using processor performance data to validate changes to processor performance states. Processor utilization data and processor performance data is obtained during system operation. The processor utilization data is analyzed to determine a desired performance state for the processor. Before setting the actual performance state of the processor to this desired performance state, however, processor performance data is analyzed to determine if prior changes to the performance state have been effective. The performance state of the processor is then changed are maintained based upon this additional performance verification analysis.

  • Patent number: 8200852
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for utilizing multi-mode dongles with peripheral devices. The multi-mode dongles are configured to provide standard mode signals for a standard mode of operation and alternate mode signals for an alternate mode of operation, for example, where a host information handling system is unable to provide the alternate mode signals to the peripheral device. The multi-mode dongle receives mode control signals from a host information handling system and automatically switches from a standard mode of operation to an alternate mode of operation, where the alternate mode signals are provided to the peripheral device, based upon the mode control signals. In one embodiment, the multi-mode dongle can be configured for a universal serial bus (USB) port, and the alternate mode signals can be associated with charging a consumer electronics (CE) device.

  • Patent number: 8200855
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for detecting DisplayPort (DP) source device connection to sink devices. When the DP link is active, no measurements are made to determine source device connections. When a DP link is not active, a signal line for the auxiliary channel for a DP connection is measured to determine if a source device is connected. More particularly, the auxiliary channel is a differential auxiliary channel, and the positive signal line is measured to make the determination of whether a source device is connected. Still further, an indication is made that a source device is connected if the positive signal line is at a low level, and an indication is made that a source device is not connected if the positive signal line is at a high level.

  • Patent number: 8195115
Abstract: Receiver architectures and related methods are disclosed for high definition (HD) and digital radio FM broadcast receivers. The radio receiver architectures are configured to utilize multiple analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to handle the digital radio spectrum and can be configured to modify a target IF frequencies depending upon the mode of operation of the receiver. For example, the receiver can include an analog FM reception mode and a digital FM reception mode for which different down-conversions are used for the same analog-plus-digital audio broadcast channel. If desired, the radio broadcast receivers disclosed can be configured so that they only receive digital FM radio content, for example, if the analog FM broadcast was of no interest and/or if the broadcast was all digital.

  • Patent number: 8183513
Abstract: Read-out cell systems are disclosed for image detectors, including infrared image detectors, that provide improved sensitivity by providing in-cell subtraction through the use of a voltage ramp signal generated using a reference pixel and a feedback amplifier. The ramp voltage is generated using a reference pixel and an amplifier having feedback. The ramp voltage is then provided to a plurality of read-out cells. The ramp voltage can be coupled to an input transistor to provide current subtraction prior to the integration node. The ramp voltage can also be provided to integration capacitors within the read-out cells to provide current subtraction directly to the integration node. Further, a temperature-independent fixed current source can also be utilized to further control current subtraction.

  • Patent number: 8179111
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for a power-on sequence for a circuit. A sequence generator for an electronic system may control various power domains to enter known states and prevent unwanted states as other domains of the system power-up. Regulator modules may be controlled to remain in an inoperable state until a reference voltage stabilizes at a predetermined reference level. The regulator modules regulate a received voltage supply to output a regulated voltage at the reference level, the regulated voltage set via a comparison to the reference voltage. Various analog and digital modules may be controlled to remain in an known state until the regulated voltage stabilizes at substantially the reference level. Additional sequencing is described for other dependencies, as well.

  • Patent number: 8175825
Abstract: Accurate power usage for a portable information handling system is provided using input power measurement circuitry. A calibration step is performed when the portable information handling system is powered down and charging. The calibration step includes obtaining a battery charge measurement from a battery, and then using this measurement to calibrate an input power measurement made with respect to power being provided by the AC/DC adapter. Known losses from other sources within the system can also be considered in the auto-calibration of the input power measurement. Subsequently, when the portable information handling system is powered on and operating on power provided by the AC/DC adapter, power usage can be determined and reported using the auto-calibrated input power measurement as an indication of the power usage of the portable information handling system.
