Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) includes one or more silicon-on-insulator (SOI) transistors. Each SOI transistor includes a first source region, a second source region, a drain region, a body contact region, a gate, and first and second isolation regions. The body contact region couples electrically to a body of the SOI transistor. The gate controls current flow between the first and second source regions and a drain region of the transistor. The first isolation region is disposed between the first source region and the body contact region. The second isolation region is disposed between the second source region and the body contact region.
Abstract: A time domain communications system wherein a broadband of time-spaced signals, essentially monocycle-like signals, are derived from applying stepped-in-amplitude signals to a broadband antenna, in this case, a reverse bicone antenna. When received, the thus transmitted signals are multiplied by a D.C. replica of each transmitted signal, and thereafter, they are, successively, short time and long time integrated to achieve detection.
Abstract: A communication system of the present invention utilizes ring detection circuitry on both sides of an isolation barrier. More particularly, the ring detection circuitry may include ring burst circuitry on the phone line side of the isolation barrier and ringer timing circuits on the powered side of the isolation barrier. The digital burst peak signal may be transmitted through the isolation banier to the finger timing circuits. By splitting the ring detection circuitry so that the ringer timing circuits are placed on the powered side of the isolation barriers, a significant reduction in the power usage on the phone line side of the barrier related to the ring detection function may occur. The outputs of the ringing timing circuits may be provided to circuits on either side of the isolation barrier. Thus, the ring detection function may be accomplished in a system utilizing an efficient bidirectional capacitive barrier while still minimizing power usage on the line side of the barrier.

Abstract: A method of cutting a stem to be whip grafted, comprising: securing the stem in a bore of a hand-held grafting tool that includes an angled end, with a portion of the stem extending out from the angled end; drawing a knife across a face of the angled end to thereby cut the stem; and removing the cut stem from the grafting tool. In one respect the hand-held grafting tool comprises a housing having a bore and at least one angled end, a holding member, and moveable connectors attached to the holding member, wherein the moveable connectors protrude through and bisect the housing.
Abstract: A semiconductor package includes a package substrate and an integrated circuit. The package substrate has a first surface. The integrated circuit couples electrically to the first surface of the package substrate. The integrated circuit and the package substrate together form the semiconductor package. The semiconductor package also includes a first inductance circuit and a second inductance circuit, both formed within the semiconductor package. The first and second inductance circuits couple to each other in parallel. The first and second inductance circuits have substantially symmetrical geometric characteristics.

Abstract: A system for forming images for display in a vehicle includes a lens system that directs energy from a scene toward a detector and d display unit coupled to the detector. The display unit forms an image using information received from the detector. The system also includes the detector, which includes an array of detector elements, each detector element receiving energy from a portion of the scene and converting the received energy into information representative of the received energy. The detector sends the information associated with at least some of the detector elements to the display unit. The system further includes a computer coupled to the sensor. The computer receives heading information, selects the detector elements that should be used to form an image based on the heading information, and instructs the detector which detector elements should have their associated information to the display unit.
Abstract: A technique is provided for an electrical device to automatically detect one of a plurality of interface standards to operate in accordance with. More particularly, a direct access arrangement (DAA) for communicating with telephone lines is provided for utilization with modem communications over a phone line. The DAA may be configured to automatically detect and operate in accordance with a plurality of interface standards for communications to a host system. For example, the DAA may detect that communications are to be provided in accordance with the AC-97 interface standard or the Azalia interface standard. In one embodiment, a clock signal may be monitored to determine the proper interface mode. In another embodiment, the automatic detection of the proper interface mode may be accomplished by monitoring the data presented to the DAA through the interface standard.
