  • Patent number: 8350594
Abstract: Enabling scheduling of single cycle as well as scheduling multi-cycle rules in a synchronous digital system whose behavior is governed by an asynchronous system specification (e.g., a TRS) provides a way to allow complex actions at state transitions of the asynchronous system without requiring that the complex actions be synthesized in logic that must be performed in a single clock cycle. For example, a relatively infrequent action may include a critical timing path that determines the maximum clock frequency of the system. By allowing that infrequent action to take multiple clock cycles, even if that action takes more absolute time, other actions may take less absolute time by virtue of being able to operate the synchronous system at a higher clock rate. The overall system may then operate more quickly (e.g., as measured by the average number of rules applied per unit of absolute time).

  • Patent number: 8349113
Abstract: A method sticks onto a curved surface of a substrate a functional film (4) that has a substantially planar initial shape. To this end, the film (4) is retained on a deformable membrane (1) by connecting means (2) that allow portions of said film to slip relative to the membrane when said membrane is deformed. This reduces stresses that are created in the film by the deformation. The method is adapted for applying a functional film to an ophthalmic lens.

  • Patent number: 8353056
Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting program plagiarism through memory access log analysis is provided. A data extractor extracts an access log of an original program and an access log of a target program to be compared with the original program from a memory accessed by the programs. A common string detector enumerates values, which are obtained from the access logs extracted from the original program and the target program, into strings and detects a common string that commonly exists in the strings. A discontinuity calculator calculates a discontinuity value that indicates a distance between the strings by using an array of the detected common strings. A plagiarism determining unit determines that the target program is plagiarized if the calculated discontinuity value is less than a predetermined reference value.

  • Patent number: 8352439
Abstract: A method for processing a write instruction for writing data to a database stored on a logical device includes obtaining first and second addresses that specify the location of the data in respective first and second address spaces. A third address corresponding to an expected location of the data record in the first address space is then calculated. On the basis of a comparison between the first address and the third address, a determination is made as to whether to execute the write instruction.

  • Patent number: 8344924
Abstract: An approach to converting an analog value based on a partition of an input range produces probabilities that the input is found within each of the regions based, for example, on a noisy version of the input. In some examples, iterative and/or pipelined application of comparison circuitry is used to accumulate a set of analog representations of the output probabilities. The circuitry can be adapted or configured according to the characteristics of the degradation (e.g., according to the variance of an additive noise) and/or prior information about the distribution of the clean input (e.g., a distribution over a discrete set of exemplar values, uniformly distributed etc.).

  • Patent number: 8346031
Abstract: A micro-resonator sensor uses an evanescent wave of a total reflection mirror. The sensor includes an input waveguide for guiding inspection light incidented on one end section to the other section. A total reflection mirror is disposed at the other section of the input waveguide such that an incident angle made with the input waveguide is larger than a total reflection threshold angle at which the inspection light is totally reflected, and includes a receptor provided on the other side from the side on which the inspection light is incidented and combined with a measurement-subject material. An output waveguide is disposed at a certain output angle relative to the total reflection mirror for outputting a reflection light whose intensity changes according to the measurement-subject material due to an interaction between the evanescent wave generated by the inspection light incidented to the total reflection mirror and the measurement-subject material.

  • Patent number: 8346068
Abstract: Disclosed is a substrate rotating and oscillating apparatus for a rapid thermal process (RTP), that oscillates an oscillation plate using an oscillation motor moved by an elevating unit. Rotational shafts of the oscillation motor comprise lower and upper center rotational shafts mounted on a central axis of the motor, and an eccentric shaft mounted between the lower and the upper center rotational shafts as deviated from the central axis. An oscillation cam is mounted to the eccentric cam. The oscillation plate has an oscillation hole for inserting the oscillation cam therein. A bearing is mounted between the oscillation cam and the eccentric shaft such that the oscillation cam rotates independently from the eccentric shaft. The oscillation plate supports the whole multipole-magnetized magnetic motor or maglev motor. Accordingly, the substrate can be uniformly heated by both rotating and all-directionally oscillating the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8339212
Abstract: A filtering device is capable of suppressing common mode noises upon transmission of a differential signal, and includes a differential transmission line, a grounding layer, a dielectric unit and a conductive structure. The differential transmission line has a pair of conductive traces spaced apart from each other. The grounding layer is spaced apart from the differential transmission line. The dielectric unit is disposed between the differential transmission line and the grounding layer. The conductive structure is embedded in the dielectric unit, is coupled electrically to the conductive traces and the grounding layer, and cooperates with the differential transmission line, the grounding layer and the dielectric unit to form a stacked structure that has an effective negative permittivity, thereby suppressing the common mode noises coupled to the conductive traces. A differential signal transmission circuit is also disclosed.
