  • Patent number: 8146225
Abstract: For forming a clamping ring first the pipe is extruded. The extruded pipe is cut to form a pipe part. While extruding the pipe, its inner diameter is formed smaller than the outer diameter of a pipe onto which the clamping ring is positioned before making a pipe connection. The inner diameter of the pipe part is made larger by removing material from the inside of the pipe part but only over part of the length of the pipe part such that a stop edge is formed. The clamping ring is used on a pipe when making a pipe connection.

  • Patent number: 8143793
Abstract: An energy efficient illumination device is provided in which energy consumption is reduced by using a pulse generating circuit which provides power to LEDs in short pulses, and in which the circuit has a lifespan which is comparable to that of an LED. The illumination device includes a pulse generator circuit employing only passive circuit components and which is used to generate a desired pulsed and positively DC biased output waveform. The pulse generator circuit receives alternating current power as an input, alters the power waveform, and supplies the power to LEDs for a very short time (0.2-15 ms) during each cycle of a 50-60 Hz input signal. This paradigm of pulsed light emission provides ambient lighting that is perceived by humans to be steady and continuous, and which also provides substantial energy savings since power is used in only a fraction of the power cycle.

  • Patent number: 8142017
Abstract: A method for producing an ophthalmic glass (1) intended for an identified wearer of spectacles comprises distribution of an optical power addition between an anterior face (SANT) and a posterior face (SPOST) of said glass. Said distribution of the addition is done in such a way as to modify an optical characteristic as a function of relative amplitudes of eye and head movements of the wearer. Superior comfort of the glass in use is thus obtained. The optical characteristic which is considered may be, in particular, a variation of magnification procured by the glass between far and near vision conditions. An improvement of the invention is to also modify a design of the progressive glass as a function of the amplitudes of the eye and head movements of the wearer, using only a single semifinished glass model of fixed design for each addition value of the anterior face.
