  • Patent number: 8335034
Abstract: The present invention provides an optical device comprising a pair of specifically designed plate-like diffractive optical elements successively arranged in parallel to each other. Placing the two diffractive optical elements in succession and in parallel to each other in a certain distance, the combination optically corresponds to a single diffractive optical element, and it can perform similar tasks, acting as a lens, an axicon, a phase shifter, or a spiral phase plate. If one of the diffractive optical elements is rotated with respect to the other around a common central axis, the property of the optical device, like the focal length, the refractive power, helical index, or phase shift changes continuously.

  • Patent number: 8322755
Abstract: A tube coupling 10 including a tubular housing 11, a seal 12 within the housing 11 and a grab ring 13 for gripping the outside of a tube. The grab ring 13 is mounted within the housing 11 between a first pair of abutments 27 and 28 which are spaced apart axially in the direction of insertion of a tube into the coupling 10. The grab ring 13 is split through its circumference at 29, to allow a radial contraction for insertion into the housing 11 past the first abutment 28. The grab ring 13 can then radially expand for location between the abutments 27 and 28.

  • Patent number: 8326045
Abstract: The invention relates to an image processing apparatus by means of which an image identification can take place in real time and which, with only very little or even no a priori information, is capable of carrying out a pertinent and reliable identification of objects. To this end, the connection probabilities are determined between two contour points in each case, taking into account the distance between the points, by means of a computation mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8302454
Abstract: Usually, a sniffing leak detector must be calibrated for each tracing gas. The calibration comprises ranging of the spectral positions into the mass spectrum and the amplitude height. At least one mass line is determined with a calibrating gas. The mass lines lying between two mass lines and/or between a zero point and a line are determined by interpolation and/or extrapolation. In this manner, a sniffing leak detector can be used for such tracing gases which have not previously been used for calibration purposes.

  • Patent number: 8294456
Abstract: The leak detector comprises a basic unit that is connected to a probe by a hose. The probe tip is placed against test zones of the test object. In case that test gas escapes from the test object, this is detected by a test gas detector in the base unit. According to the disclosure, a position determining system is provided which comprises a transmitter, a receiver that is disposed inside the probe, and a supply and evaluation unit. Thereby, the presence of the probe tip in the individual test zones is monitored and confirmed.

  • Patent number: 8290739
Abstract: A method for determining a mobility of an object includes the steps of measuring at least a portion of a shape of an object under an initial increment of a weight load of a plurality of increments of a total weight load using a device and measuring at least a portion of the shape of the object under a next increment of a total weight load of a plurality of increments of a weight load using the device. Repeating the measurements until a total weight load is achieved and comparing the measurements from the device under the plurality of incremental weight loads, thereby determining a mobility of at least the portion of said object under the plurality of increments of weight loads. The method further includes adjusting the elevation and angular orientation of a support surface for the object to achieve further measurements and a device for obtaining such measurements. The method further includes comparing the mobility of a present object to a normal-object to determine a deviation.
