  • Patent number: 4660697
Abstract: In the control of the slip in a slip clutch device for joining and separating an input shaft and an output shaft, the improvement comprises detecting a slip in the clutch, calculating a time change in the said slip and calculating a slip deviation between a preset target slip and the said slip, and feedback-controlling the engaging force of the clutch in proportion to the quantity of the time change in the said slip, obtained from these calculations, and the slip deviation so that the slip in the clutch is caused to get near to the target slip.According to the slip clutch device control method of this invention, the hunting in slip can be prevented from being caused even when the .mu.-v characteristics of a clutch facing is worsened, and a shock applied upon the clutch at the start of its operation can be reduced in a large extent.

  • Patent number: 4653614
Abstract: In a self-energizing disc brake of the spreading type the recesses in the pressure plates in which the balls are housed, are machined directly into the material of the plates on pitch circles in the two plates of corresponding diameters. Each recess comprises an inclined ramp surface terminating at opposite ends in first and second end portions of which the end portion at the deeper end is engaged by the ball in an "off" position of brake, and the second portion is engaged by the ball to preclude further relative angular movement between the plates in brake-applying direction, thereby indicating a "wear stop". In addition ramp surfaces of different slopes may be located between the end portions so that an increased brake-applying effort towards a fully worn lining condition provides a wear warning device.

  • Patent number: 4646572
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the interference-free testing with guided waves for faults, through cyclic production and reception of ultrasonic waves, through assessment of the received HF-signals for signal components, which derive from faults and through evaluation of the result. In order to reliably improve the capabiliy of assessing the received HF-signal over the greatest possible lengths covered and thereby to enable the testing for faults to be carried out at a high speed and a high degree of reliability, it is proposed that the received HF-signals are digitalized within the cycle and that from the digital HF-signals of several successive cycles average values are formed and these are likewise rectified with the aid of a computer and in each case are filtered and assessed with a threshold value characteristic and if required a signal analysis for faults in the testing path.
