  • Patent number: 8348510
Abstract: A soft sided insulated container assembly has a first insulated container portion and a second insulated container portion. The second insulated container portion can be collapsed to a flat position, and secured in place. Either of the container portions may have a liner. The liner in the first container portion may be a substantially rigid liner. The assembly may have a lifting member. In one example the second portion may be hingedly mounted to the first portion, and the lifting member may be mounted such that when the assembly is lifted, the hinge is in an up-and-down orientation. In another embodiment, the lifting member may be eccentrically mounted, such that the assembly may possibly sit more comfortably against a carrier's hip. The first container portion may have an auxiliary opening or door, and that door may be more easily opened than the main access of the first insulated container portion.

  • Patent number: 8352400
Abstract: A system and method of predicting items likely to appeal to a user, based on data received from a remote site. One or more local systems are provided, along with a remote system, said local systems communicating with said remote system over a network connection. Each local system maintains a set of characterized items. A local processor predicts an appeal of an item to a user based on the comparison with the set of characterized items with, e.g., user preferences. The user may interact through graphical user interface. At least one user-preference predictive algorithm may be employed to present items predicted to appeal to the user.

  • Patent number: 8351066
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a display section, a storage section, and a continuation reception section. The display section displays a plurality of setting items, and the setting items relate to only one of the plurality of functions. The storage section stores a single or plurality of groups of setting items relating to a function in a time-series manner. The continuation reception section receives an option of whether or not the provided function is continuously executed. When receiving the option, the continuation reception section causes the display section to display the group of the setting items and to display the history data in a list to select one from the single or plurality of groups of the setting items. When receiving the option for not continuously executing the provided function, the continuation reception section initializes setting of the provided function and clears all the history data.

  • Patent number: 8344807
Abstract: A distributed low noise amplifier (DLNA) comprises at least a first amplifier part 30.1 providing a first path 36.1 form an input of the amplifier to an output of the amplifier and a second amplifier part 30.2 providing a second path 36.2 from the input to the output. Each of the first and second paths being associated with a respective and different change in phase. The difference being larger than degrees in a noise suppression band to cause a phase difference between noise generated by the amplifier arrangement propagating along the first and second paths and destructive interference of the noise before the output of the DLNA, thereby to suppress noise in the noise suppression band. The respective gains of the amplifier parts 30.1 to 30.n may decrease in a direction from the input of the amplifier to the output thereof.

  • Patent number: 8342294
Abstract: The invention relates to an overspeed detection mechanism in lift apparatuses, safety device acting against overspeed and a lift apparatus, which detection mechanism can be assembled on a sheave or on the elevator car. It incorporates a wheel rotating according to the speed of the car and has pivoting arms swinging through the centrifugal force during the rotation of the wheel. It has magnetic means associated to the pivoting arms causing an attraction maintaining the position of the pivoting arms until the centrifugal force exceeds the attraction of the magnetic means. It incorporates a stop, belonging to a part external to the wheel against which the pivoting arm comes into contact when the centrifugal force generated on the pivoting arm due to the overspeed of the elevator car exceeds the attractive force of the magnetic means, starting the braking of the car.

  • Patent number: 8336365
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an NDT/NDI calibration process that automatically detects erroneous TOF readings by providing a predetermined time acceptance window. During the calibration process, TOF readings acquired by a UT device are validated to determine whether the TOF reading for the thin test block falls within the range of the predetermined time acceptance window. If the TOF reading for the thin block (T2) falls out of the predetermined time acceptance window, the operator is alerted of an error and to repeat the TOF test for the thin block.
