  • Patent number: 8332491
Abstract: A network device is adapted to be connected to wired and wireless network interface modules for packet transmission therethrough, and includes a network interface selecting module including a connection status monitoring unit and a network interface selecting unit. The connection status monitoring unit transmits an address resolution protocol (ARP) request packet via the wired network interface module for determining a connection status of the wired network interface module through an ARP response packet received by the network device if the network device is configured with a device internet protocol (IP) address and a default IP address belonging to the same subnet, and transmits an internet control message protocol (ICMP) request packet via the wired network interface module for determining the connection status of the wired network interface module through an ICMP response packet received by the network device if otherwise.

  • Patent number: 8205531
Abstract: A chuck device for a machine tool includes: a center unit disposed in an axial hole in a tubular housing, extending along a hole axis of, and having a tip extending outwardly of the housing and abutting against a workpiece; a chuck unit disposed movably in the axial hole, sleeved on the center unit and including a chuck member disposed adjacent to the tip of the center unit; and a sleeve unit disposed movably in the axial hole, concentric with the housing and sleeved on the chuck unit. The sleeve unit has a pushing end portion sleeved on and abutting against the chuck member, and is operable to move relative to the housing along the hole axis such that the chuck member is driven by the pushing end portion of the sleeve unit with movement of the sleeve unit to move away from the housing and to clamp the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 8181981
Abstract: A system provides for the adjustment of a cycle frame, for example the rake angle, gooseneck height, wheel base, and rear end height of a motorcycle. The system includes a variable length backbone, a variable length downtube, optionally a variable length fork assembly, and optionally a variable height rear end. The length of the backbone, downtube, fork, and height of the rear end can be adjusted, for example, using a linear actuator such as an electro-mechanical ball screw associated with each of the backbone, downtube, fork, and rear suspension. Adjustment of the lengths/heights/angle can be controlled independently of one another and/or in coordination by a controller. The controller comprises a processor, memory, and actuator drive components. The controller can store presets which allow the rider to automatically adjust the variable length components to specific lengths that provide a desired rake angle, gooseneck height, wheel base length, rear end height, or combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 8184633
Abstract: A system for and method of efficient interoperability assessment based on automated Behavioral Profiling and Emulation of SIP or T.38 Fax-relay Enabled Devices, for example, for profiling and emulating VoIP Phones such as SIP Phones, or T.38 Fax-relay devices such as Internet Aware Fax Terminals. The method includes a Multi-step/Multi-technology Iterative Profiling Stage that allows creating a Behavioral Profile based on the analysis of a plurality of traffic samples. Also, the method presents an efficient process of Device Emulation of an actual device to be used in interoperability assessment, including a Standard State Machine parameterized by a set of characteristics stored in the Behavioral Profile. The Emulation method can be used to duplicate one or more device behaviors exhibited either by different firmware revisions, software upgrades or by different OEM product models.

  • Patent number: 8139565
Abstract: The presently disclosed Demultiplexer Application associated with a server or other processor (S) (collectively “Demultiplexer”) enables a computer telephony Client Application (CA), for example a Computer-Supported Telecommunications Application (CSTA) Client Application, to connect to several Communication Devices (PBX1, . . . , PBXn) simultaneously, even though the Client is designed to only connect to a single Communication Device. The Demultiplexer provides an interface between the single access Client Application and the multiple Communication Devices simultaneously connected to the Demultiplexer via computer telephony, for example, using CSTA. When the Client Application attempts a an association with a target Communication Device, the Demultiplexer establishes two parallel processes: (1) a dialogue process between the Client Application and the Demultiplexer, and (2) a dialogue process between the target Communication Devices and the Demultiplexer.

  • Patent number: 8078636
Abstract: A heap management system for a database uses “sets” of pages to store database information. As memory for each successive set of pages is allocated, more memory is allocated for storing rows in each page of the set. Similarly, the maximum number of rows of information storable in each page of each set is greater for each successive set of pages. The number of computer instructions needed to resolve (or calculate) the memory address for a particular row is fixed. Given a target row number, (and the number of rows in the first page, and the width of the column or column group), only a fixed number of computer instructions need to be executed to resolve the starting memory address for the target row. In addition, information of the same type (i.e., one or more columns of a table) may be stored in different pages, and these pages may be located in discontiguous memory segments. This allows space for new rows to be allocated, without requiring all pre-existing rows to be moved to a different memory segment.

  • Patent number: 8070960
Abstract: A method of dewatering a solids laden waste stream, whereby the slurry is pumped into a vertical filter retaining structure and the liquid is allowed to flow out through the pores of the filtration element while retaining the solids within the structure. After the solids have dewatered, doors or gates located at the bottom of the structure are opened and the solids drop out the bottom by gravity. The structure is elevated to allow a transport vehicle to be placed under the doors prior to dropping out the solids. One embodiment utilizes an open bottom, closed top filter bag that is closed off by the doors or sliding gates located at the bottom of the structure. Another embodiment disclosed would use rigid filter plates to retain the solids and drop out the accumulated solids by opening sliding gates at the bottom of the structure. The filter bag or plates is accessible from the side to allow either manual or automatic pressure washing of the filtration elements or filter bag after each dewatering cycle.

  • Patent number: 7931365
Abstract: Eyewear having replaceable lenses, with an illustrative embodiment including a frame, two temples, temple-connecting members extending outwardly from opposing ends of the frame and affixing the temples to the frame; a nose bridge; bridge-connecting members extending outwardly from two points centrally located on the frame and affixing the nose bridge to the frame; nose pads; and a plurality of interchangeable lenses. The lenses, which may be sunglass lenses, are composed of somewhat pliable material and have a perimeter defining at least two collinear recesses, with the recesses capable of selectively and releasably coupling with the temple-connecting members and the nose bridge-connecting members, thus securing the lenses to the frame. A case with a padded interior and fitted storage recesses is used to protect eyewear and lenses not in use.
