Abstract: 2-Imino-4-dichloromethylene-1,3-dithiolane and its derivatives may be prepared by cyclizing, via photolysis, an appropriate 2,3,3-trihaloalkyl N-substituted dithiocarbamate in the presence of a suitable solvent, as for example, carbon tetrachloride. The 1,3-dithiolane derivatives are useful as herbicidal antidotes.
Abstract: 2-Amino-4-substituted-5-thiazolecarboxylic acids and derivatives thereof, are intermediates for the preparation of 2-substituted-4-substituted-5-thiazolecarboxylic acid derivatives which are herbicidal safeners.
Abstract: Derivatives of 2-imino-1,3-dithiolane, 1,3-dithiole, 1,3-dithiane, 1,3-dithietane and 1,3-oxathiole have been found to reduce herbicidal injury to crop plants due to thiocarbamate and acetanilide herbicides. This is a division, of application Ser. No. 960,987 filed Nov. 15, 1978, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,231,783.
Abstract: Derivatives of 2-substituted-4-alkyl or trihaloalkyl-5-oxazolecarboxylic acid have been found to be effective in reducing herbicidal injury to crop plants caused by thiocarbamate and acetanilide herbicides, and especially in reducing herbicidal injury to rice, sorghum or wheat crops, especially rice and sorghum, caused by triallate, alachlor and butachlor herbicides.
Abstract: 2-Substituted-5-phenyl-4-thiazolecarboxylic acids and their derivatives have been found to be effective in reducing herbicidal injury to sorghum plants caused by triallate, alachlor and butachlor herbicides, and especially in reducing herbicidal injury to sorghum plants caused by alachlor herbicide.
Abstract: 2-chloro-4,5-disubstituted-thiazoles have been found to be effective in reducing herbicidal injury to sorghum plants due to the application thereto of acetanilide and thiocarbamate herbicides.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for the preparation of certain N-substituted-2-haloacetanilides via the reaction of a secondary 2-haloacetanilide with a haloalkyl ether, particularly, halomethyl ethers, which comprises forming the ether in situ by the in-solvent reaction of an alcohol, formaldehyde or other aldehyde and an acid halide to produce high purity haloalkyl ethers, while decreasing the concentration of undesirable bis by products, as for example bis(chloromethyl) ether. The ether formed in situ thereafter reacts with the secondary 2-haloacetanilide in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst and base to form the N-substituted-2-haloacetanilide.
Abstract: The present invention relates to N-(pyridylmethyl)-2-oxobenzothiazoline and N-(pyridylmethyl)-2-oxobenzoxazoline compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein: T is hydrogen, alkyl containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, halo, --CF.sub.3, --CN or --NO.sub.2n is zero, 1 or 2; X is oxygen or sulfur; R is equal to ##STR2## their use in a method of regulating leguminous plant growth as well as compositions containing the novel compounds as the active ingredient.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for encapsulation, and particularly to the production of small or minute capsules constituted by a skin or thin wall of polyurea, which involves bringing together an aqueous phase containing a lignin sulfonate emulsifier and a water-immiscible phase containing a water-immiscible material, the material to be encapsulated, plus polymethylene polyphenylisocyanate, dispersing the water-immiscible phase in the aqueous phase followed by addition of a polyfunctional amine. Polymethylene polyphenylisocyanate reacts with the amine to form a solid polyurea shell wall about the encapsulated material. The capsules formed may be directly used as aqueous suspensions.
Abstract: This disclosure relates to novel 1-methyl-2-aryl-2,3-dihydro-1H-2, 1-benzazaphosphole-1-oxides which are useful as herbicides. This disclosure further relates to herbicidal compositions containing such benzazaphospholes and to herbicidal methods employing such compounds and compositions.
Abstract: The invention relates to compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is H, lower alkyl or agriculturally acceptable cations; and wherein A is a 1,3,4-oxadiazol, 1,3-oxazole and 1,3,4-triazole which are useful as plant growth regulators.
Abstract: The disclosure herein relates to a new class of herbicidal compounds comprising 2'-alkyl-6'-(2,2-dialkoxyethyl)-N-(alkoxymethyl)-2-haloacetanilides, herbicidal compositions containing same, their method of preparation and use to selectively control undesired vegetation in agricultural crops, e.g., monocotyledons such as wheat, sorghum and rice and dicotyledons such as sugarbeets and soybeans.
