  • Patent number: 4031823
Abstract: A carpet or fabric screen printer has a plurality of size-adjustable screen printing rolls mounted on re-positionable heads on a long frame for the purpose of repeating a pattern in different colors. Each printing head comprises a screen printing roll on which is mounted the screen and inside of which is mounted a roller of magnetically attracted material or having a magnet unit having both North and South poles along the length thereof. The magnetic roller rolls when the head is in operation but remains in one position with respect to the screen printing roll. A continuous conveyor belt delivers the fabric sheet beneath the screen and the roller inside the screen roll. A second magnetic roller on the head beneath the conveyor belt and on the other side of the conveyor belt from the screen and the second roller also has North and South poles which are attracted by corresponding opposite poles on the first roller.

  • Patent number: 4029029
Abstract: Conventional multi-needle tufting machines may be modified and provided with the special looper element of the present invention so that without backdrawing or robbing from a previous loop a row of stitching is formed to provide a pattern of any number of high cut loops and low cut loops. The looper element is reciprocated by the conventional mechanism and the loops are cut by long and short knives reciprocated by the conventional knifebar on the machine. The looper element may be made from flat plate in one plane to provide a support portion and a closed end, like a nose with an internal space, which enters the loop. A bottom member like a finger on the nose and a top member defines the internal space which is substantially closed by means of the bottom member except for an offset entrance having a small angular configuration. The small angular entrance leads to the space in the looper element in which a short loop supplied by a pattern control means is confined until cut.

  • Patent number: 4018117
Abstract: Combustible materials, including plastic sheets, plates, and blocks, also leather and all varieties of wood, may be cut along predetermined lines by engaging same with a heated reciprocating wire at temperatures which vaporizes the material rather than melting same. The machine providesa reciprocating wire which is heated by electrical resistance. A system of air quenching of the wire above and below the cutting zone is employed in order to attain incandescent temperatures at the point of cutting.

  • Patent number: 4014407
Abstract: Drive-in banks, some large service stations and similar operations use cashiers windows located on small islands at a remote place from the central building. A concealed transport system is located below the floor of the main building and employs a carrier box mounted on rollers which operate on flanged tracks mounted on the sides of a small tunnel which extends beneath the respective casher's booths each of which has an access door in the floor to reach the tunnel. A nylon cable attached at its opposite ends to the carrier extends around a large drive wheel pulley inside the main building and across various idler pulleys in the ends of the tunnel.

  • Patent number: 4011619
Abstract: A hand-crank operated golf ball washer comprising a cylindrical container in which there is an elongated drive shaft supporting a first scrub element covered in a plastic outdoor carpet material, a second and shorter cleaning element which is covered with the outdoor carpet material, and a third, drying element covered with a towel-like drying material. The ball is directed through helical grooves formed in the outer periphery of the inside of the casing and spaced from the different elements just the correct amount to force the golf ball into contact therewith. Plastic sponge elements are placed within some of the helical grooves and absorbent towel elements are placed in others. The elements are separated by baffles with aligned openings therein to transfer the golf ball.

  • Patent number: 4004529
Abstract: A cylindrical metal barrel is joined to the heads or closures on opposite ends by the bending together of the annular material of the head and respective barrel end to form the usual double seam made by seamer rolls brought to engagement by means of cams. The metal barrels are supported between movable heads on which are mounted respective barrel chucks driven by respective and individual chuck spindles driven from a respective motor and clutch drive on each head. A power take-off operates a common drive shaft between the heads which has the actuating cams thereon that vertically move the seaming rolls. Thus, there is independent operation at each end of the barrel on each head for making each respective double seam.

  • Patent number: 3987916
Abstract: A system including apparatus for automatically and continuously, or intermittently, feeding disposal material such as highly combustible waste plastic in containers such as 55 gallon steel drums or in packages such as 30 gallon sizes into a rotary kiln or any other appropriate receiver. Highly combustible or explosive materials must be placed carefully into a rotary kiln or other type of combustible disposal equipment because of the likelihood of explosion or blow back when the material reaches the heat. Such material contained in packages of 55 gallon steel drums or in bales or disposable cartons is delivered by conveyor to a grid for raising same and in clamping means which holds the reclaimable drum and tilts same through an openable closure into the furnace or incinerator, dumps the container and returns it to reclaimable position to be moved on out another conveyor system.

  • Patent number: 3977139
Abstract: A tower which is especially useful as a radio antenna tower comprises an elongated antenna pole or mast having reinforcing truss structures on opposite sides thereof comprising triangular trusses at spaced locations. One set of trusses on one side employ truss members extending perpendicularly from the mast whereas the other set of trusses on the other side comprises angular truss members joined at their extremities by a truss base. The mast is pivotally supported on a base which is a large pipe cemented into the ground. A cable and pulley system is operated by an electric motor to elevate the mast from its angular position on the ground to an upright position or vice versa to lower the mast to the ground.

  • Patent number: 3937376
Abstract: A wheelchair support is attached to and extends from the bumper of an automobile and may be swung upwardly out of the way when not in use. A support frame for confining the wheels comprises members which define wheel recesses on opposite sides of an intermediate member, which carries an adjustable retaining member. The frame is supported on pivoted arms attached to a mounting frame having adjustable clamps which fit on and tighten to a conventional automobile bumper. A collapsed wheelchair is tilted upwards to place the large wheels in the well. Downward rotation of the wheelchair in the support frame causes the wheelchair frame to engage the retainer which secures the wheelchair in place.
