Abstract: A device (1) for separating and filtering particles and organisms from a high volume flowing liquid operating under low pressure. The device (1) includes a conical or cylindrical shape inlet chamber (3) were liquids enter tangentially creating a circular flow without creating a vortex, the liquids accelerate into a separation and filter chamber (14) where the liquids spin around a longitudinally disposed filter element (11) in the center of the chamber (14), with the centrifugal forces separating out larger and heavier particles towards the perimeter of the separation and filter chamber (14), and where smaller particles having a specific gravity closer to that of the liquid are filtered when the liquid penetrates through the filter element wall into the center of the filter element and flows out one of the longitudinal outlets of the unit. Ultraviolet light irreparably damages bacteria, microorganisms and pathogens contained in processed ballast water and may be incorporated as part of the system.
Abstract: A tube cleaning machine for industrial smooth bore tubes and enhanced tubes in which the machine includes a rotary brush with means for selecting brush rotary speed for optimum cleaning of the smooth bore and enhanced tubes, and in which the machine includes a water side and a chemical side for supplying a cleaning medium to tubes being cleaned.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of diagnosing or controlling a grinding mill for paper pulp, wood chips, or other fibrous materials, by measuring the incremental change in power related to an incremental change in the gap, and using the ratio of the two differences, together with the measure of applied power, as the diagnostic or control parameter.

Abstract: Replaceable refiner fillings (10) used for refining of lignocellulosic and other natural and synthetic fibrous materials in the manufacture of paper, paperboard, and other fiberboard products. The refiner fillings (10) include a pattern of blades (14) and spacers (16) defined by a bar cluster (24), with the bar cluster being the basis of formation of the filling (10). A method of manufacture provides bar cluster patterns based on factors including pumping angle, plurality of segments in a refiner filling (10), and the number of clusters in a segment. A bar set cluster is established for uniform fabrication of bar clusters (24) for the refiner fillings (10).
Abstract: An instrument for applying clips in surgery having an operating handle with operating components and a removable clip cartridge with clip applying mechanism. The handle operating components generate reciprocal linear motion imparted to the clip applying mechanism and accommodate rotation of the cartridge about a cartridge axis. An anti-backup mechanism constrains operating components to complete first and second strokes of reciprocal linear motion. The clip applying mechanism actuated by received reciprocal motion applies a clip in surgery, isolates the next clip, and prepares for loading the isolated clip into the jaws on a first stroke, and on the second stroke, opens the jaws and pushes the isolated clip into the open jaws.
Abstract: A large flexible plastic bib that is conical or funnel shaped with its large open end supported by a frame for positioning near a source of effluent to be collected, and the bib small open end positioned to direct liquid and debris toward a floor drain.
Abstract: Insect and animal control water based concentrate and and dilute compositions and method in which a polymer and solubilizer are selected to provide a cross-linked film with matrices of sufficient capacity for trapping and being plated by an active ingredient particularly methyl nonyl ketone and other ingredients for slow degradation by environmental factors and release the active ingredient in an area to be controlled.
Abstract: A passenger aircraft security system provides double doors at the entrance to the cockpit and rearranges the adjacent galley and restroom and creates a vestibule or passageway between them fitted with parallel inner and outer doors with special locking devices so as to provide guarded access to the cockpit from the passenger cabin. Modified embodiments are disclosed for marine vessels and railway locomotives and subway cars.
Abstract: Insect and animal control compositions and method in which a polymer and solvent are selected to provide a cross-linked film with matrices of sufficient capacity for trapping and being plated by an active ingredient particularly methyl nonyl ketone and other ingredients such as UV light absorber and fragrance, near transparency to UV light, flexibility, and susceptibility to slow degradation by environmental factors so to release the active ingredient, and the composition sprayed onto an area to be controlled.
Abstract: A quick load air gun for cleaning conduits by propelling a foam projectile through the conduit by means of a compressed air charge. The air gun includes a quick load port for inserting projectiles into the gun chamber, and a compressed air circuit including an air control valve operated by a trigger for admitting a compressed air charge into the chamber, and for venting the chamber to ambiance on release of the trigger.
Abstract: A guide wire torque device has an elongate tubular body with interior long axial channel and a rotary clamp wheel for gripping and ungripping a guide wire extending through the channel. The clamp wheel is accommodated within an integral enlargement of the tubular body with a segment of the wheel surface extending through the surface of the enlargement for rotation by a user's thumb in order to grip and ungrip the guide wire for feeding, withdrawing or rotating the wire with respect to a catheter.
