Abstract: A porous membrane product is provided which is formed from a porous membrane substrate having its surface completely modified with a perfluorocarbon copolymer composition. The porous membrane product has substantially the same permeability as the porous membrane substrate.
Abstract: A flange structure formed from a plurality of joined flange segments is provided. The joined flange segments form a generally circular opening for a conduit. The flange structure can be connected to a substrate by fasteners extending through two oval shaped openings connecting the two forces. At least one shim is attached to the flange segments through narrow bridge connections which can be fractured by hand or with a hand held tool.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for sampling microorganisms from the air is disclosed. The speed at which the sample is placed on to a growth medium is controlled, such as by controlling the speed of the turbine of the device, so as to compensate for any drying of the medium that may have occurred by the amount of air hitting the surface over time. This enhances the ability of the medium to retain microorganisms present in the air even as the medium dries from the flow of air over its surface.

Abstract: A cable mount for securing a cable bundle is provided which comprises a cable tie having a locking head and a support plate. The support plate is provided with openings which permit passage of the cable tie therethrough. An extension such as a ratcheting pawl or beads are positioned adjacent or within at least one of the openings which frictionally supports the cable tie within the opening prior to locking a leading edge of the cable tie within the locking head thereby to secure the cable bundle to the support plate.
Abstract: A heat exchange apparatus is provided which is formed from at least one multilayer presealed element and at least one monolayer element that are insert molded together. The heat exchange apparatus is provided with an inlet and an outlet for a process fluid and at least one inlet and at least one outlet for a heat exchange fluid. The sealing configuration of the presealed elements and the seal provided by the insert molding effect a seal configuration that causes heat to be transferred between the process fluid and the heat exchange fluid while preventing mass transfer between the two fluids.
Abstract: Water to be purified is passed through a reverse osmosis step to produce a pure water stream and a waste water stream. The waste water is directed to a deionization step to produce purified deionized water which is recycled to the reverse osmosis step. The process directs far less water to waste as compared to conventional reverse osmosis processes. The process also produces water of higher organic and inorganic purity than can be obtained by either reverse osmosis or deionization alone.

The rotor is rotatably mounted between the top and bottom stators and its position is controlled to effect reactant flow to one or a plurality of desired reactor modules. Alternatively, the movable rotor section can be replaced with a linear array of reactor modules that can move linearly relative to a linear stationary stator section.

Abstract: The present invention is generally a device for allowing a person to be connected to and walk with various medical equipment (such as an intravenous bag, control system, intravenous hoses and wire). In one embodiment, the device comprises a base member having a plurality of wheels for allowing the device to roll upon a floor. The device further comprises a lower pole member engaged with and extending upward from the base member. The device further comprises an upper pole member and a medical system (such as a intravenous bag, control system, intravenous hose and wires) engaged with and extending outward from the upper pole member and adapted to be connected to the patient. The device further comprises a coupling member engaged with the lower and upper pole members and allowing rotation in either direction and independently of the lower pole member with respect to the upper pole member and/or to allow the upper pole member to remain stationary when the upper pole member is held by the hand by patient.
Abstract: A portable scoring apparatus is provided comprising a carrying case is formed of two half sections joined together by a flexible connecting section. The half sections are capable of being pivoted with respect to each other at least about 180 degrees. The two half sections can be open during use and closed during transport. A plurality of scoring elements having numeric indicia are secured to an inside surface of one of the half sections. The scoring elements are pivotable so that they can be supported by the inside surface of the second half section. The scoring elements have the same numeric indicia on both their top surfaces and their bottom surfaces so that different venues at a sporting event can view the correct score.

Abstract: A display device is provided comprising one or more masking discs being printed on a surface and a transparent area for viewing printed matter on a substrate disc such as a compact disc. A masking disc or a protective layer includes a bushing extending through a central hole of the compact disc so that each masking disc and substrate disc are rotatably mounted relative to each other. The bushing cooperates with a securing disc to maintain the masking discs and substrate disc together. A magnetic layer secured to the substrate disc comprises means for mounting the display device on a substrate independent of the display device.

Abstract: A filtration process and apparatus are provided wherein feed fluid to be filtered is introduced into a small gap between two rectangular plates. At least one of the plates supports a porous filtration membrane within the gap. During filtration, at least one of the plates is oscillated to effect a continuously changing gradient of gap width between opposing surfaces of the plate. A permeate is collected and a seal is provided to prevent admixture of the permeate with either feed fluid or retentate.
