Abstract: A composition and method for the treatment and prevention of plaque accumulation on teeth wherein there is administered to the oral cavity an oral composition comprising an orally acceptable aqueous vehicle containing an effective therapeutic amount of a noncationic antibacterial agent and an acrylic polymer/polyoxyalkylene copolymer formed from about 80 to about 90% by weight of the acrylic polymer and about 5 to about 20% by weight of the polyoxyalkylene having a molecular weight greater than 4,000 and less than 20,000 the antibacterial compound exhibiting increased antiplaque activity on dental tissue.

Abstract: A dual component chlorhexidine dentifrice composition in which the first component contains a bis-biguanide antibacterial agent and the second component contains an abrasive incompatible with the bis-biguanide, wherein maximum antibacterial effect on dental tissue with reduced staining is achieved when the components and are physically separated prior to use and are mixed upon application to dental tissue.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a nutrient composition suitable for enteral feeding of an animal in a state of metabolic stress. The composition is in the form of a suspension having a yield stress of about 1800 to about 5800 dynes/cm.sup.2 wherein it is syringeable and capable of being administered to the animal directly through the oral cavity.

Abstract: A method of administering an oral bandage to lesions in the oral mucosa is disclosed wherein there is prepared a storage stable topical gel formulation adapted to form an oral bandage adherent to the oral mucosa when applied thereto, the gel containing at least one anesthetic compound, a keratolytic compound, an astringent compound and an ethyl cellulose gelling agent in an amount of at least about 8% by weight and then applying the gel to the area of the oral mucosa experiencing irritation to form an adherent oral bandage.

The first and second dentifrice compounds are maintained separate from the other until mixed for application to teeth.

Abstract: The severity of metabolic disturbance in animals with cancer is mitigated by feeding the animal a nutritionally balanced food composition having a fat content of about 27 to 35%, on a dry matter basis, a carbohydrate content of about 15 to about 27% on a dry matter basis in which is present a mixture of arginine, omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, the weight ratio of omega-3, omega-6 fatty acid being in the range of 0.3:1 to 3.5:1.
