  • Patent number: 5942024
Abstract: A method comprising the steps of solvent extracting a gold bearing chlorination leach solution with DBC, scrubbing the resulting gold bearing organic phase with hydrochloric acid and reducing gold is capable of recovering gold in high purity by:(1) adjusting the concentration of hydrochloric acid in the gold bearing chlorination leach solution to 0.5-1.75 N before the solvent extraction and then scrubbing the resulting gold bearing organic phase with 0.25-0.75 N hydrochloric acid; and/or(2) performing five-stage scrubbing with hydrochloric acid by either one of the following three approaches: i) after three-stage scrubbing, centrifugal separation is effected and separation is then performed by filtration with a filter having an opening size of 0.05-5 .mu.m, with the resulting organic phase being then subjected to two-stage scrubbing; ii) after five-stage scrubbing, centrifugal separation is effected and separation is then performed by filtration with a filter having an opening size of 0.05-5 .mu.

  • Patent number: 4998938
Abstract: A device for facilitating the insertion of an instrument such as a surgical or observational tool into a patient's cranial cavity through a previously formed aperture in the cranium. The device comprises a guide with an open elongated tubular member having a first and a second end, wherein at least a portion of the tubular member at the first and thereof is configured and adapted for passage through the aperture. An outer surface portion of the open tubular member is configured for engagement with a separate locking apparatus for securing the device to the cranial surface. The device further comprises a flanged tip on the first end of the tubular member for stabilizing it within the aperture. An alignment stand configured for the passage therethrough of at least a portion of the device is seated upon the cranium directly above the aperture. The guide is inserted therethrough and into the cranial cavity.

  • Patent number: 4949304
Abstract: In a Bloch line memory device, information corresponds to the presence or absence of a Bloch line pair present in the magnetic wall of a stripe magnetic domain. Reading of information is effected by converting the presence and absence of a Bloch line pair into the presence and absence of a magnetic bubble domain. The conversion is effected such that, after the stripe magnetic domain has been shrunk in such a manner that no Bloch line is present therein, a magnetic field for chopping off the stripe magnetic domain is applied to the shrunken portion. Thus, when a Bloch line is present at an end portion of the stripe magnetic domain, the stripe magnetic domain is chopped off to form a magnetic bubble domain, whereas, when no Bloch line is present at the end portion of the stripe magnetic domain, the stripe magnetic domain is not chopped off and therefore no magnetic bubble domain is formed. Whether the magnetic bubble domain is present or absent is processed as information.
