  • Patent number: 7235178
Abstract: Process for treating waste water on ships in which the waste water is pretreated by surface filtration, the pretreated waste water being collected in a first tank acting as a mixing tank and optionally enriched with oxygen. The waste water from the first tank is continuously fed to a three stage bioreactor, in which aerobic waste water treatment takes place in a second tank, waste water is fed in batches from a second tank to a third sealed tank, in which denitrification and sedimentation of the solids takes place. Water from the third tank is fed into a fourth tank acting as a settling tank with the largest part of the sludge being recirculated in batches from the third tank into the first tank and, after disinfection, the water from the fourth tank is subjected to fine filtration.

  • Patent number: 7168268
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of colored structures of a glass, particularly for applying an inscription to the glass, by locally heating volume elements of the glass by means of a laser beam. The glass contains ions of metals which, in the form of submicroscopic particles, color the glass wherein the local heating of the non-doped glass is accomplished through a solution or gel of a metallic salt which transmits the laser beam well and is directly contacted with a surface of the glass.

  • Patent number: 7168684
Abstract: A tiltable valve for discharging foam and other media from a pressurized vessel includes a valve disk for connection to the vessel, and a valve body having a holder opening that is placed in an opening in the valve disk and a sealing surface at a side facing away from the valve disk. The tiltable valve further includes a valve element disposed in the holder opening which has a tubular portion with a sealing flange at one end and at least one inlet opening in the wall, such that in a closed position of the valve, the sealing flange bears on the sealing surface and blocks an entry of the medium requiring discharge in the inlet opening and, in a tilted position of the valve element, the sealing flange and the sealing surface are spaced from each other while forming a gap and the medium requiring discharge is allowed to exit through the gap and the inlet opening.

  • Patent number: 7167079
Abstract: A method of setting up a remotely controlled wireless thermostat system for regulating heating and cooling a building. A radio equipped pager is connected to the programmable controller of the thermostat and a self test is conducted to determine if the system can successfully communicate with the service providers network at a first low power pager output. If not, the power output of the pager is incrementally increased within an acceptable output power range until such time that successful communication is established with the network. This power setting is placed in memory for use thereafter in communicating with the network.
