  • Patent number: 3980232
Abstract: For spraying orchards or other agricultural products, apparatus is made up of modular components including a discharge head unit, a tank unit and a draw bar unit. In one mode of use, the discharge head unit is supported by the three-point-hitch of a tractor, and the draw bar unit is mounted on the tank unit for coupling the tank unit to a hitch mounted on the head unit. In another mode, the tank unit, discharge head unit and draw bar unit are assembled in a unitary trailer assembly to be towed by a towing tractor. In each case power is supplied by the tractor power takeoff. The discharge head unit includes a centrifugal blower including a generally cylindrical housing and a generally concentric blower rotor, with high velocity discharge nozzles projecting generally radially from a generally cylindrical housing wall portion. The housing is constructed so that the nozzle wall portion is readily removable and replaced with a substitute nozzle wall portion containing a different nozzle arrangement.

  • Patent number: 3967615
Abstract: For finish cooking spaghetti, a steam cabinet includes a plurality of individual cooking compartments substantially closed except for an access opening in a front wall just large enough to receive a loaded cooking vessel. Steam nozzle means are disposed in the cooking compartments in a plane adjacent to the upper edge of the access opening for directing steam directly onto and through the food. In the use of this apparatus, partially precooked spaghetti is divided into serving portions, placed in cooking vessels, and inserted in cooking compartments in a selected compartment sequence. After finish cooking, which requires only a few seconds, the compartments are unloaded in the same sequence first removing the cooking vessel from the compartment and immediately transferring it to a preheated serving plate for delivery to the customer in the most palatable condition.

  • Patent number: 3965945
Abstract: A pre-adjustable device to which a medicant syringe may be attached for the filling of the syringe with medicant, to limit the extent of withdrawal of the syringe plunger during filling and thereby prevent inadvertent injection of an overdose of medicant. The device includes an overfill control, to allow for slight overfill of the syringe and subsequent expelling of the overfill medicant and entrapped air.

  • Patent number: 3958573
Abstract: Aspirator and aspirators assemblies, particularly adapted for use by dentists and oral surgeons, include a tubular member having an adaptor tip at one end which is configured to coact with varying sizes of suction hose and/or adaptors whereby the aspirator is readily useable regardless of the type of vacuum utility service provided by the building. The adaptor tip is configured to have a smaller diameter tapered portion to be received in and coupled to a small diameter suction hose, a larger diameter portion at its proximal end dimensioned to be received within and coupled to an intermediate diameter suction hose, and with the larger diameter portion dimensioned to coact with an adaptor dimensioned to be received within and coupled to a large diameter suction hose by means of which the aspirator tip is coupled to such large hose.

  • Patent number: 3957643
Abstract: An extractor unit of relatively small size includes a motor-basket assembly consisting of an electric motor with suitable protective housing and a projecting drive shaft, and an open ended, generally cylindrical basket nonrotatably coupled to the drive shaft in axial relation. This motor-basket assembly is freely suspended from one or more overhead members of a support frame by one or more suspension links which are elastic and flexible, with such links being secured to the motor housing. The point of attachment to the motor housing in relation to the center of mass of the motor-basket assembly will determine whether the assembly is supported horizontally, vertically or otherwise. The unit is enclosed in a protective housing which, in one form, closely encloses the motor-basket assembly and defines a part of the assembly suspended by the frame; and, in another form, is secured to the frame enclosing the entire unit including the frame and the suspended motor-basket assembly.

  • Patent number: 3954246
Abstract: A stand for supporting an open book in an upright reading position on a horizontal surface, includes a base frame and a book support assembly together defining a book supporting plane supported at a desired angle relative to the table. The support assembly is pivotally supported on the base frame about a generally vertical axis, and includes structure for supporting the weight of the book. The base frame includes page holding arms, pivotable in the book supporting plane to be engaged by the open pages of the book; and the support assembly includes spring arm means engaging the backs of the book covers to urge the covers and pages into engagement with the page holding arms. The support assembly is rotatable 180.degree. relative to the base frame to support the book in either of two alternative positions in the book supporting plane, the book being rearwardly inclined in one position and forwardly inclined in the alternative position.

  • Patent number: 3949997
Abstract: A unitary spiral ring structure is fabricated from side-by-side split ring members with one end of one ring joined in overlapping relation to one end of the other ring by means of a silver soldered or other fused metal joint. The mating ends of each ring member are interlocking with the free ends being radially confined by the respective joined ends. An auxiliary expansion ring improves the sealing of the spiral ring.

  • Patent number: 3942625
Abstract: For measuring the load output of a lifting conveyor powered by a three-phase motor, electric measuring apparatus is coupled to the motor power supply conductors by voltage take-off leads and current transformers. Voltage and current, proportional respectively to motor supply voltage and current, are fed to a solid state watt transducer, which produces a millivolt output proportional to the total power consumption of the motor. The transducer output signal is fed to a solid state transmitter, which amplifies the signal, and which includes a zero output adjustment for producing a zero output for a selected input proportional to the motor load driving an unloaded conveyor. The transmitter output is fed to a solid state integrator through an intervening potentiometer which is adjusted to calibrate the apparatus to the length and lift of the conveyor. The integrator produces voltage pulses representative of a selected ton fraction, and it triggers a counter which records cumulative tonnage conveyed.

  • Patent number: 3941151
Abstract: A valve assembly clamped to the upper end of a vent pipe includes an elongated sleeve with a band clamp and sealing gasket at its inner end for ready clamping to the vent pipe. A butterfly valve plate is nonrotatably fixed to a pivot shaft in unbalanced relation, with the shaft extending through the sleeve and having a transverse operator arm. Semi-annular seat means provide a sealing seat at upper and lower surfaces of the valve plate, on respective opposite sides of the pivot axis; and a spring or weight urges the valve plate to the seated position.

  • Patent number: 3931662
Abstract: A self-propelled machine includes a main housing supported on front and rear drive rollers and has an operator control handle extending from the rear. Front and rear elongated working brushes are driven in orbital movement in horizontal planes, with the front brush being positioned ahead of the front roller and the rear brush positioned behind the rear roller. A supply tank for the working solution includes agitating and aerating means for creating a foam dispensed from a pressurized tank through a flow control gate, and applied to the floor surface ahead of the front brush. The drive rollers act as squeegies.
