  • Patent number: 5435185
Abstract: A vibration and acoustic sound diagnostic instrument for use by a professional automotive maintenance mechanic which is capable of discriminating audible vibration sound and noise generated by under-chassis and under-hood parts and devices having mechanical faults. The instrument includes at least one acoustic vibration pick-up device adapted for mounting in contact with an automotive part or device for detecting and converting vibratory acoustic signals and sounds into electromagnetic signals and an electronics housing conformed to be held in the hand of the maintenance mechanic. Pre-amplifier circuitry within the housing is electrically coupled to the acoustic vibration pick-up device and to range selector circuitry for selecting sound level ranges respecting the electromagnetic signals. A decibel meter, mounted to the exterior of the housing, is electrically interconnected to the pre-amplifier for visually indicating changes and peaks in the sound levels detected by the transducer microphone.

  • Patent number: 5370408
Abstract: An improved brake system for wheeled baby carriers, including baby strollers and baby carriages, whereby when the carrier is at rest and not being pushed by an attendant person, the wheels of the carrier are automatically locked so that accidental rolling movement thereof is inhibited. In accordance with the invention the push handle of the carrier has associated therewith a brake release handle or bar which is interconnected by a brake release cable to a brake shift bar mechanically connected to the brake levers associated with the rear wheels of the carrier. The brake shift bar is resiliently biased by one or more biasing elastic bands or springs to a position which causes the brake levers to normally lock the rear wheels against rotation.

  • Patent number: 5365145
Abstract: An emergency lighting system for providing low voltage DC battery powered illumination to one or more areas of a home, apartment, office or other building structure in an emergency mode upon the failure or termination in such areas of a normal AC power mode. The system includes a voltage step-down transformer with the leads of its primary winding interconnected to a normal AC power source and forming therewith an AC circuit. A power rectifier has its input leads interconnected to the terminals of the low AC voltage secondary winding of the transformer and its DC voltage output leads interconnected to the terminals of an emergency battery power source. One or more low voltage incandescent lamps are interconnected to the terminals of the battery and form therewith an emergency DC circuit.
