Abstract: An apparatus, circuit and method for operating a solenoid-actuated electromechanical door latching mechanism that includes a capacitor to meet the power surge requirements needed to move a door latching mechanism. A power supply at one end of a transmission line is coupled with a capacitor adjacent the solenoid at the other end of the transmission line to reduce the need for a larger capacity power, heavy gauge transmission lines and increases the distance at which a power supply may be located from a door latching device.
Abstract: An overhead storage platform supported by vertical members that includes slotted support beams supporting the platform deck. The vertical support members are affixed to a ceiling or other overhead structure on one end and to the slotted support beams on the other end with a cradle clamp, where they are adapted to be adjustably moved and affixed within a slot channel in the slotted support beams. The vertical support members can be adjustable in length as well. These two adjustment dimensions allow more adaptability to affixing the platform to overhead supports of varying configurations. Multiple platforms may be abutted to provide a larger and substantially continuous platform deck.
Abstract: A caddy for carrying spools such as those for electrical wire. The caddy has complementary T-shaped slots in opposite side walls and members affixed between the side wall that support the spools, forming a cage, and one member rides within the T-shaped slot. The moving member may be pulled away from the cage to allow for room to release a spool from its cage, but the member will move by itself in response to movement of the caddy to keep the spool or spools locked within the cage.
Abstract: A method and computer network for managing an intentional community, such as a continuing care residential retirement community. Such a community includes members who have rights to use physical resources such as facilities and services that are managed by a management entity of the intentional community. The members are able to interact with management and outside vendors with a graphical user interface that represents the community, and perhaps vendor sites.
Abstract: A collapsible sun shade adapted to be used with a chair is disclosed. The shade is made of spring steel or equivalent material and is adapted to be affixed to cover the seat portion of a lounge chair. The shade is unfolded under the force of the compressed spring and attached to the chair to provide shade over the seat of the chair.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a constructing misting manifold is disclosed that uses a standardized intermediate member joined to tubing. The method allows mass production, particularly with use of orbital welding, easy alignment of the component part and high quality welds.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for is provided for supporting and connecting drier cassettes of an air knife type of drier. The drier cassettes exhaust air on traveling printed matter and are joined and supported by expander units that also exhaust air on the printed matter to increase drying efficiency. Gas or air is supplied to either the drier cassettes or the expander units or both and window apertures may be provided to allow the gas to communicate between the drier cassettes and the expander units. The relative exhaust pressures of the expander units and the drier cassettes may be regulated to create a pressure gradient on the printed matter as it travels through the exhaust so that the path of the paper suffers from less disruption.
Abstract: A method and article of manufacture for building waterproof concrete structures. An integral casing comprised of a rigid plastic shell with an armature attached to its face is covered with concrete. The shell is formed either in the shape of a desired structure or in a generic shape to be used to splice together a larger custom structural shape in a mosaic fashion. The shell acts both as a form to support the wet poured concrete and becomes an integral part of the finished structure to provide waterproofing.
