Patent number: 6799931Abstract: The tree fastener includes split wing fasteners which engage a passageway in a clip base, including flashgates in the passageway which were formed in the molding process initially joining the tree fastener and the clip base prior to driving to the pre-driven position, and further engage a structural aperture in the driven position. The tree fastener further includes a flexible tab which is joined to the tree fastener near the tip of the tree fastener and which extends upwardly within a slot in the shank of the tree fastener and extends through the head of the tree fastener. The flexible tab includes two generally radially outwardly extending interference bumps which engage one of the flashgates in the pre-driven position. The flexible tab can be manually moved radially inwardly so that the interference bumps release the flashgate so that the tree fastener can be urged to the fully driven position.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2001Date of Patent: October 5, 2004Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Mark J. Patent number: 6746191Abstract: The rivet includes a screw element which rotates within a body element. The body element includes an upper collar, integral with the body head, which is longitudinally stabilized with respect to the rotating screw element. The body element further includes a lower collar which is internally threaded and engages the external threads of the shank of the screw element. The lower collar therefore traverses a portion of the shank of the screw element as the screw element rotates. Folding legs join the upper collar and the lower collar. In the uninstalled position, the folding legs are parallel to and abut the screw shank. However, in the installed position, the lower collar approaches the upper collar and the legs fold so as to be substantially perpendicular to the screw shank.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2001Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: David W. Patent number: 6736691Abstract: A toy building set comprising box-shaped building elements that have, in the horizontal plane, dimensions that are integer multiples of a horizontal module (L), and, in the vertical direction, a height (H) which exceeds the horizontal module. The building elements have a tubular opening at a first face. Elements are provided that have a tenon that can be introduced into the tubular opening. At its free end, the tenon is flexible and has protruding edges (23) for snap-effect with the second end of the tubular opening, and the tenon has a protruding portion (21) that serves to ensure that the tenon can be introduced only so deeply into the tubular as corresponds to the horizontal module (L). The building set comprises building elements (30) with coupling studs (31) on the top face and a cavity (32) with a tubular coupling means (33), whereby two such elements are able to interconnect with coupling studs (31) in contact with the sides of the cavity (32) and the tubular member (33).Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2001Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Interlego AGInventor: Erik Bach

Patent number: 6729617Abstract: A device for conveying flat objects in series and edge-on, in which the flat objects (12) are moved in a conveying direction (D), while at the same time being separated each from the next by a spacing which is normally constant, has a synchronization system (2) capable of compensating for any variations in spacing between two consecutive objects. The system includes two parallel rows (3, 4) of driven wheels (3A-4C) made of elastically deformable elastomer and between which each object is gripped and moved in the conveying direction. Each wheel has a rotation spindle (6), the position of which is fixed, and the wheels are rotated by a motorization system which is controlled to accelerate and/or retard the movement of each object between the two rows of wheels on the basis of a detection whether the front edge of the object has been early or late in passing a determined position upstream of the two rows of wheels compared with a time reference indicating the spacing between objects.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2002Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: SolysticInventors: Francois Chaume, Laurent Buffat, Claude Diebold

Patent number: 6726408Abstract: An apparatus (10) for feeding sliders (31) from a source of sliders to the slider insertion area (27) of at least two slider insertion devices (18, 19). A sensor (30, 52) on a sender track (20, 21) detects a lack of sliders (31) in the sender track. A signal is sent from the sensor (30, 52) to actuate a vibratory bowl (14) of sliders (31) and a plunger (35) to open a passage, thereby releasing the sliders (31) to a sender track (20, 21). When a sensor (46, 56) detects a lack of sliders (31) in a loading rack (25, 26) or a slider insertion area (27), the sensor (46, 56) signals a plunger (44, 58) and a pneumatic valve (48, 60) to open a passage to provide an air blast, thereby launching the sliders (31) onto the slider insertion area (27) of each slider insertion device (18, 19).Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2002Date of Patent: April 27, 2004Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Michael McMahon, Stanley Piotrowski, Donald L. Patent number: 6721981Abstract: A body support apparatus, for example, a bed, includes a support surface defined by support members. Each support member is mounted for movement in a direction substantially normal to the support surface. Support members are so arranged that movement of any one of the support members in a direction substantially normal to the support surface and beyond a threshold distance relative to an adjacent support member causes movement in substantially the same direction of said adjacent support member. No movement of a support member is caused by the movement of an adjacent support member when the distance of relative movement is below the threshold distance. The support members are resiliently urged towards an unloaded position, by tension springs.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2001Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Inventors: Colin Jack Greenhalgh, Marlene Claire Greenhalgh
