  • Patent number: 5560499
Abstract: An assembly for storing and displaying compact discs and the like, including two elongated storage units, each having a column of case-receiving slots, the units being secured in upright parallel relation. Top members are secured to the tops of the units and side members are secured to the lower outside sides. The top and side members together with the storage units form the outline of a readily-recognizable, non-storage unit object. The object is preferably a double-neck guitar with the slots (or slot-defining ribs) forming the frets thereof.

  • Patent number: 5558454
Abstract: A one-piece divider assembly which is folded over along one edge may be fed into a laser printer, ink jet printer, or photocopier. The assembly includes a divider sheet having a binding edge, a reduced-thickness binding edge region extending inwardly from the binding edge, and a main body with an integral, outwardly-extending tab. The divider sheet has a folding line which is inset from and which runs parallel to the binding edge. The binding edge region has a folding portion defined on one side by the binding edge and on the opposite side by the folding line. The binding edge region also has a non-folding portion adjacent to the folding portion. The folding portion includes spaced holes for a binder. A binding edge reinforcement film may be adhered to at least a portion of the binding edge region. The folding portion of the binding edge region may be folded over at the folding line, and the folding portion may be releasably tacked with a single-use adhesive to the non-folding portion of the divider sheet.

  • Patent number: 5553720
Abstract: An assembly for storing and displaying discs, cassettes, game cartridges, tapes or the like, including an elongated straight side-walled storage unit forming a column of longitudinally-spaced storage slots. First and second side members are secured to the opposite lower sides of the storage unit and extend out from it. A top member is secured to the storage unit and extends up from it. The side members and top member are configured such that together with the storage unit they define in front view a readily-recognizable outline of a common (non-storage unit) object, such as a guitar or other musical instrument. The slots or rib spaces of the storage unit define, when the object is a stringed musical instrument, the frets thereof. An interesting, attractive and readily identifiable storage and display assembly is thereby defined. The side and/or top members can also provide surfaces to which holders for holding special tapes or cases are face mounted.

  • Patent number: 5544454
Abstract: A refrigerator door construction is disclosed which includes door rail elements formed from a foamed polymeric substance. At least one substantially transparent panel is supported, retained by and sealed in the door rail. Connection elements are provided for connecting the door rail elements. At least one hinge is provided for allowing pivotal movement of the door about an axis. The foam rail element may also form one or more spacer elements between adjacent panels so that separate, discrete spacer bars may be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5544376
Abstract: In an articulated bed having a motor for raising and lowering the bed, a control circuit operated by the user has first user memory for storing a first user variable indicating a user-selected first preferred bed position and a recall button by which the user can command that a handler routine in the control circuit return the bed to the first preferred bed position indicated by the first user variable. Further, the control circuit can have a tracking memory for frequently storing a tracking variable indicating the current position of the bed and a "store" or "program" button or control by which the user can command that the first user variable be set to equal the current tracking variable. Thus, any time the bed is in a position preferred by the user, the user can push the "store" button to store a user variable indicating the preferred bed position in the controller's memory; then afterwards the user can have the bed return to that preferred position by pressing the "recall" button.

  • Patent number: 5545092
Abstract: A system and method for generating special effects showers of sparks for use in theme park shows and rides. A flint rod is biased with fluid pressure against a cutting wheel of this system. When a clutch is actuated for a brief predetermined time period, a constant high speed motor is operatively connected to the cutting wheel, rapidly rotating it. The rotating wheel cuts, ignites and discharges small portions of the flint rod biased thereagainst away therefrom in a stream of sparks. An air stream directs the stream of sparks out as a special effects shower of sparks. One embodiment of this system propels the spark stream out through a venturi nozzle. By changing the gas stream fluid pressure and/or the clutch connect time and/or the flint rod biasing pressure and/or the clutch connect/disconnect interval timing, the size and characteristics of the shower of sparks can be accurately controlled and altered as desired.

  • Patent number: 5540086
Abstract: An oil deterioration sensor includes a housing, a substrate with a first capacitive plate mounted within the housing, a second capacitive plate mounted to the housing close to the first capacitive plate, and a total reference capacitor which includes an external fixed reference capacitor. The second capacitive plate is mounted to the housing such that oil freely circulates within a gap between the first and second capacitive plates thereby defining an oil deterioration sensor capacitor. The respective capacitances of the oil deterioration capacitor and the total reference capacitor provide an engine oil deterioration indication for the oil within the gap. The first capacitive plate is divided into a major sensing area, and a minor sensing area covering a relatively small portion of the total area of the first capacitive plate. The major sensing area and the second capacitive plate form the oil deterioration sensor capacitor.
