Patent number: 7665402Abstract: A method of manufacturing ammunition 10 for firing from the barrel of a weapon comprises forming a mould 32 having an interior surface, placing a core 42 in the mould 32 to produce a casting void 43 and pouring a liquefied solidifiable material into the casting void 43. Upon solidification of the material, the core 42 is removed to produce a projectile body 12 having a closed end and an opposite end. The removal of the core 42 also creates the cavity 18 in the projectile body 12 that opens onto the opposite end. The projectile body 12 is removed from the mould 32 and a quantity of propellant 22 is deposited into the cavity 18 through the opposite end. A seal 26 which incorporates a primer is pressed into the opposite end. Circumferential flanges 30a and 30b are integrally moulded with the projectile body 12.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2008Date of Patent: February 23, 2010Assignee: Techventure Investments Pty Ltd.Inventor: Leslie Mervyn Harrison

Patent number: 7479231Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating mixtures of fluids having different densities. According to one aspect of the invention, a lower density fluid is separated from a higher density fluid. A mixture of the two fluids is received in a tank. A centrifugation of the mixture is induced in the tank. The lower density fluid is evacuated from the tank until the level of an interface created at least in part by the centrifugation between the higher density fluid and the lower density fluid reaches a predetermined threshold.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2005Date of Patent: January 20, 2009Inventor: Robert H. Patent number: 7448325Abstract: A projectile (10) comprises a cylindrical body (12) with a first (leading) end (14) and a second trailing axially opposed end (16). An internal cavity (18) is formed between the ends (14 and 16) and holds a volume of propellant material (22). The first end (14) is closed by a nose (20) that is fixed to the body (12). The end (14) is sealed with a base seal (26) that seats a primer (24) for igniting the propellant (22). The primer (24) is located inboard of the second end (16) and the base seal (26) to reduce the likelihood of accidental activation. Seals (30) are formed about the body (12) for maintaining gas pressure of deflagrating propellant. The seals (30) may be formed integrally with the body (12) or separately from the body (12) and seated in respective grooves (40) formed circumferentially about the body (12).Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2005Date of Patent: November 11, 2008Assignee: Techventure Investments Pty. Ltd.Inventor: Leslie Mervyn Harrison

Patent number: 7441571Abstract: A conical chipper/canter head. The head includes, at least, one or more chipping knives. Each chipping knife provides at least one pair of linear cutting edges including a face cutting edge and a chip cutting edge angled with respect to each other. The face cutting edge defines a planar, face cutting surface of revolution of the cutting head, and the chip cutting edge defines a conical, chip cutting surface of revolution of the cutting head. The face and chip cutting edges of the same chipping knife lie in substantially the same plane. A cutting head may include a plurality of facing knives and corresponding clamping members in addition to one or more chipping knives. The facing knives and corresponding clamping members are adapted so that each of the facing knives is removable from the cutting head without removing any other facing knives.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2005Date of Patent: October 28, 2008Assignee: Key Knife, Inc.Inventors: Bradley R. Stager, Jianmin Liao

Patent number: 7411668Abstract: A light returning target for a photometer. The light returning target comprises a ball lens, and a cradle. The cradle has a hemispherical receptacle in which the lens is intimately received. Preferably, the lens is formed of fused silica, the receptacle is polished sufficiently to reflect, more than it scatters, light, and at least the surface of the receptacle is formed of a material that absorbs, more than it reflects, light.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2005Date of Patent: August 12, 2008Assignee: Zaps Technologies IncorporatedInventor: Gary Klinkhammer

Patent number: 7361837Abstract: An electrical connection device (10) for connecting a multi-core machine cable to another electrical device comprises a body (12) having an end-face with apertures and a plurality of insulating sleeves (22) extending about the apertures and a plurality of core coupling means (26, 28) each being at least in part positioned in a respective sleeve. Each core coupling means is connectable to a respective core (29) of the machine cable and has a first contact surface (14) for connecting to a terminal of another electrical device. The device comprises a plurality of spaced apart earth coupling means (24) which surround at least a portion of respective insulating sleeves. Each earth coupling means is connectable to a respective earth potential layer (31) of the machine cable and has a second contact surface (32) for connecting to an earth-potential terminal of another electrical device so that within the electrical connection device the core coupling means are earth-potential screened from one another.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2004Date of Patent: April 22, 2008Inventor: Mark Wells

Patent number: 7343946Abstract: A high speed planer head. Disclosed according to one aspect of the invention is a hub and a threaded member. The hub is axially disposed for rotation about an axis, and has a pocket for receiving a first knife against a supporting wall of the pocket. The threaded member has a frustoconical ramping portion for producing a wedging force against the knife when the threaded member is threaded into a threaded hole in the hub. According to another aspect of the invention, a second hub for carrying a second knife is provided, the second hub preferably being bolted to the first hub to that the hubs can be disassembled. The second knife preferably has two linear cutting edges and the second knife preferably has at least two curvilinear cutting edges and more preferably has four concave, semi-circular cutting edges that are spaced apart from one another with 90 degree rotational symmetry.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2004Date of Patent: March 18, 2008Assignee: Key Knife, Inc.Inventor: Bradley R. Stager

Patent number: 7318738Abstract: The present invention provides an electrical connection device for a machine cable comprising a first connector having a first contact and a second connector having a second contact the connectors being moveable between a disengaged condition in which the first and second contacts are remote from each other and an engaged condition in which the first and the second contacts are electrically connected. The device also comprises a drive for imparting a driving force to drive the first and the second connectors relative to each other whereby the first connector and the second connector move between the disengaged and the engaged positions. The drive is arranged to distribute the driving force around at least a portion of at least one of the first and the second connectors to minimize wedging, canting or seizing between connector surfaces and allows minimal mechanical clearance to provide a narrow path.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2004Date of Patent: January 15, 2008Assignee: Head Electrical International Pty LtdInventor: Mark Wells

Patent number: 7318001Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting data for detecting and locating disturbances. A plurality of distinct regions of the space are identified, and, preferably, a hand-held device adapted for sensing positions of the device and respective representations of a field parameter at the positions is used. The positions are quantized within the regions and the corresponding representations within a region are combined. Separate scans are used to obtain baseline and detection scan results corresponding to the regions. The baseline and detection scan results are compared within a region, and the results of the comparison are used to produce scan results from which can be discerned whether a disturbance has occurred within the region. A triangulation is performed for determining the location of the disturbance, preferably using combinations of indeterminate sets of the scan results.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2005Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Assignee: CNV Technologies, LLCInventor: James Alden Clark
