Abstract: Excellently properties, thermoplastic compositions well adapted for conversion by conventional melt-processing extrusion and other ordinary fabrication techniques into very good quality, lightly cross-linked, thermocollapse-resistant, closed-cell plastic foam(s) and the like expanded cellular product(s) are comprised of an intimate mixture of:(A) a sparsely hydroxylated, normally-solid olefin polymer, particularly a linear alkenyl aromatic or polyolefin polymer which is frequently at least substantially a styrene polymer which is generally in copolymeric form with appropriate moieties of comonomers adapted to provide the requisite attached hydroxyl units therein and thereon; and(B) a minor proportion of an inter-reactive, cross-linking polyisocyanate constituent.
Abstract: Plastic particles having diameters of from about 1 to about 150 microns, a polymeric bonding layer on the surface thereof, are coated with magnetic particles to provide a generally uniform coating having a thickness of from about 0.05 to about 0.8 of a micron.
Abstract: .alpha.-Methylstyrene-styrene copolymer is blended with an .alpha.-methylstyrene-styrene diene block copolymer or copolymers to provide impact resistant molding material.

Abstract: Plastic lined pipe with the lining adhered to the pipe is flanged such as by a hydraulic operation. Resultant flanged pipe does not require heat treatment.
Abstract: Impact styrene polymers, prepared in stratified polymerizers wherein one polymerizing zone is recirculated and a solvent is employed, can have improved environmental stress crack resistance when an aliphatic hydrocarbon is utilized as solvent rather than an aromatic or cycloaliphatic solvent.
Abstract: A counter batten-rafter connecting bracket comprises a rafter engaging member to be secured to a roof rafter, a generally planar connecting member normal to the rafter engaging member, a counter batten engaging member extending parallel to the rafter engaging member and affixed to the connecting member. The rafter engaging member and counter batten engaging member each has at least one flange disposed in a plane normal to the planes of the rafter engaging member 1, counter batten engaging member and connecting member.
Abstract: Flexibilized, rigid plastic foam sheets with improved properties particularly desirable for low temperature and cryogenic insulation can be prepared by mechanical compression of freshly expanded closed-cell thermoplastic foams. Thus an extruded foam sheet having a density of 20-100 kg/m.sup.3, a y-axial size size of 0.05 to 1.00 mm and a Y-axial compressive strength of at least 1.8 kg/cm.sup.2 is flexibilized with 0.25 to 240 hours of expansion to give a flexibilized foam with improved elongation, workability, crack resistance and water vapor barrier properties.
Abstract: Innately-transparent, polymethylmethacrylate polyblends, and transparent shaped articles therefrom fabricated, are comprised with components therein of:(a) polymethylmethacrylate; and(b) at least one copolymer of styrene (and/or equivalent vinyl aromatic monomers) with one or more of certain vinyl acids; plus and optionally or as an alternative;(c) at least one mass-made acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene or acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene-type resin in addition to or in replacement of and substitution for said component (b).

Abstract: Rigid plastic foam is flexibilized in an apparatus utilizing four sets of foam gripping belts. A first and second set of opposed belts traveling at a given speed forward the foam into the apparatus to a second and third set of opposed belts traveling at a slower speed than the first and second set of belts. The first and third and the second and fourth sets of belts are interdigitated in a region of foam crush.
Abstract: Excellent and very high quality impact-resistant polymer products products are comprised of particular polyether elastomer constituents which modify and attribute many desirable properties and characteristics to the interpolymerized end product; impact styrene polymers being especially advantageous varieties thereof. In-situ polymerization, with specific coordination catalyst systems, is followed to form polyether polymers of epoxidized monomer constituents provided directly dissolved (or dispersed) in the major addition-polymerizable monomer utilized. The rubbery polyether elastomer so made is then interpolymerized with the major monomer to provide the advantageous high impact end product.
Abstract: A tube perforator is provided which has a generally cylindrical mandrel which extends within a tube. The mandrel is hollow and has a passage therein which extends in angular relation to the axis of the mandrel and exits on one side thereof. A punch disposed in the passage can be driven against the tube wall to cause perforation thereof.
Abstract: Resilient foam particles and moldings are obtained employing a lightly crosslinked polymer such as a styrene polymer with volatile fluid foaming agent that has low permeability through the polymer. Multiple expansion will permit low density particles for molding.
Abstract: Excellently-propertied, physical and intimately-admixed blends of polymers (i.e., "polyblends") comprise in intimate admixtures (A) large particle size, mass-made acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene (i.e., "ABS")-type resins; and (B) certain grafted and/or interpolymerized rubber concentrates (i.e., "MMA") or MMA copolymers with certain other acrylic and/or vinyl monomers onto predominantly polybutadiene (i.e., "PBD") elastomeric substrate(s).
