Patent number: 6859193Abstract: A display including a current drive circuit capable of supplying a desired current to a light-emitting element in each pixel stably and accurately irrespective of the characteristic variations of active elements in the pixel, thereby providing a high-definition image. Each pixel is composed of a receiving transistor (TFT3) for receiving a signal current (1w) from a data ine (data) when a scanning line (scanA) is selected, a converting transistor (TFT1) for converting the current level of the received signal current (1w) to a voltage level and holding the voltage level, and a driving transistor (TFT3) for allowing a drive current having a current level corresponding to the held voltage level to flow through light-emitting element (OLED). The converting thin film transistor (TFT1) generates the converted voltage level at its gate by allowing the signal current (Iw) through its channel, and a capacitor (C) holds the voltage level at the gate of the transistor (TFT1).Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2000Date of Patent: February 22, 2005Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Akira Yumoto

Patent number: 6510372Abstract: A method of electronic brake force distribution in a two-axle four-wheel vehicle 1 effects a compensation of the speed differences between left and right vehicle side during cornering. To this end, a compensation speed is calculated for the curve-inward rear wheel 6 and added to the individual wheel speed of the rear wheel 6 to be compared with a vehicle reference speed. The individual wheel reference speed of this wheel, which is this way increased in relation to the individual wheel speed of the curve-inward rear wheel 6, prevents a premature activation of electronic brake force distribution because the produced individual wheel reference speed is closer to the vehicle reference speed than the individual wheel speed. This permits better utilizing brake force during cornering.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1999Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co., OHGInventors: Markus Zenzen, Thomas Pröger

Patent number: 6473681Abstract: The invention concerns a process for shortening the braking distance of a vehicle equipped with a brake servo unit which during a standard braking action is only triggered by the brake pedal pressure caused by the driver and in case of a critical driving situation is so triggered by a control device that in comparison to the standard braking action an increased amplification factor is set at the brake servo unit. The invention distinguishes itself by the fact that a danger potential is determined, stating the probability that the vehicle to be braked will be involved in an accident and that the increase of the amplification factor is controlled in accordance with the danger potential.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2001Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co., OHGInventors: Alfred Eckert, Thomas Berthold, Erwin Tieleman

Patent number: 6289272Abstract: In a method of improving the control behavior of an ABS control system in corners, a special control mode or rather a corner control mode is put into operation instead of the standard control mode when a cornering situation is identified, said special control mode or corner control mode causing a reduction of the braking pressure on the front wheel and/or on the rear wheel on the inside of the curve. When, in the partial braking range, a threshold value (th) of a wheel speed difference is exceeded, which difference is the difference between the side sums formed from the speeds of the two wheels of one vehicle side there will be a braking pressure reduction on the front wheel and/or on the rear wheel on the inside of the curve until there is again a drop below the threshold value (th,thH) and, additionally, below a hysteresis band (H). Patent number: 6209968Abstract: A brake system for motor vehicles with an adjustable pneumatic brake force booster includes a control valve which can be actuated by an electromagnet independently of the driver's actions. A brake pressure controller generates signals which serve to actuate the electromagnet. In order to be able to implement a quick-action, low-noise pressure regulating system at low cost, the brake pressure controller (8) is formed by connecting in parallel an electromagnetic control circuit (60) that processes the nominal brake pressure signal (Pnominal) into a first current value (IA) and a regulating circuit (70) that processes a control difference (&Dgr;P) formed from the nominal brake pressure signal (Pnominal) and the actual pressure signal (Pactual) into a second current value IB, with the output variable (Inominal) of the brake pressure controller (8) being formed by adding together the two current values (IA, IB).Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1999Date of Patent: April 3, 2001Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co., oHGInventors: Mark Bayens, Alfred Eckert, Thomas Berthold, Jürgen Pfeiffer, Christof Klesen

Patent number: 6134744Abstract: A portable surface cleaning apparatus has a base for movement along a surface to be cleaned and an upright handle pivotally attached to a rearward portion of the base. A fluid dispensing nozzle for applying fluid to the surface and a suction nozzle for picking up fluid and debris from the surface are associated with the base. Patent number: 6107341Abstract: Compositions and methods for killing dust mites are disclosed. The disclosed miticides are aqueous mixtures composed of benzyl benzoate in an amount effective for killing dust mites and a solvent having a high affinity for benzyl benzoate and for water. The amount of solvent is sufficient to maintain a stable dispersion of benzyl benzoate in the aqueous mixture. Benzyl alcohol, which is itself a miticide, is an especially useful solvent. The miticide optionally contains at least one surfactant, which along with the solvent, helps maintain a stable dispersion of benzyl benzoate in the aqueous mixture. The aqueous mixture is applied to surfaces of household furnishings including bedding, carpeting, and upholstery, using conventional liquid application techniques. An important aspect of the present invention is that the miticide is a fully aqueous solution that, unlike available miticides, contains no solid particles for dispersing the benzyl benzoate.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1998Date of Patent: August 22, 2000Assignee: Bissell Homecare, Inc.Inventors: Eric J. Patent number: 6090729Abstract: A non-porous sheet for bonding to honeycomb-type core structures to be machined on a vacuum chuck includes a woven fiberglass fabric impregnated with a nonporous epoxy-thermoplastic resin having a low melting temperature. The epoxy-thermoplastic resin comprises a blend of bisphenol-A based epoxy and phenoxy thermoplastic. The nonporous sheet is exposed to a relatively low temperature for about five minutes to soften the epoxy-thermoplastic resin. A core structure is placed on the softened sheet and the sheet is allowed to cool to ambient temperature to adhere the non-porous sheet to the core. The core and sheet assembly can then be placed on the surface of a vacuum chuck associated with a machine tool for a subsequent machining operation of the core structure. When the machining operation is finished, the nonporous sheet is easily removed from the core structure by heating the core and sheet assembly slightly above ambient temperature and then peeling off the sheet from the core for reuse.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1999Date of Patent: July 18, 2000Assignee: FiberCote Industries, Inc.Inventor: Thomas F.
